Here’s an objective report comparing Xbox and PS new-gen first-party output.

This report doesn’t declare whether a certain game counts or not for whatever reason, or whether a small game should be compared to a big game. It lacks that kind of subjective context, but I still think the data was interesting.

3 of those are an annualized baseball game with minimal changes every year. The stat tracking in franchise has been jank for decades. And from the recycled stadium billboards in this game you’d think the biggest company in America is “Topps”. I love MLB the show, and play it a lot but it’s just funny on that list as 25% of Sony’s first party output.

Plus the last 2? are on “competing platforms” now as well. Which ordinarily I wouldn’t care about, I don’t mind Minecraft being everywhere either, but for a list of the titles for a platform it stuck out to me that it’s also on Xbox and Minecraft Legends is on PS and Switch.

VGC left out the most important bit of info from the basically nothing Kotaku article.

Two sources tell Kotaku that development on Project Helix, which seems likely to include some form of interplanetary space travel, hasn’t been progressing well and hopes are high internally that the game could be Ubisoft’s first non-Assassin’s Creed blockbuster hit in some time. But they also say the company’s goal to release the game within the current fiscal year is probably too ambitious. They still expect it to ultimately slip to sometime in the following fiscal year (which runs from April 2024 through March 2025).

So basically, “It could release earlier than you think…but probably not”

I am more excited to replay MGS1 than to play the MGS3 remake. And I really hope it includes the VR Missions expansion, I actually have more childhood memories of that than the main game lol.
