100% this. They want to make as little noise as possible during this time. I’m confident that things will pick up once the ABK saga is over.
As jez says its Microsoft/XBOX fault. They should be blamed for not competing.
Stumbled upon this:
Well…this is new.
The people look worse than everything else. I think this was filmed and the people are edited in lol.
IIRC he even said in a recent XboxTwo podcast that he suspects that SE keeps this stance to get more Game Pass moneybags and that this may set a bad example for Game Pass/Xbox which may result in more Japanese publishers acting this way…yet he is now saying that they should’ve “secure” the FF compilation.
I think that we can all agree that Xbox really tried improving their relationship with SE (the FF game pass deal two years ago, FF13 getting a special treatment for BC, pursuing or maybe I should say paying? for DQ11, DQB2 and Octopath Traveler, many times mentioning that SE is a very important partner e.t.c.) since the start of this gen while SE kept half ass-ing their support on the Series consoles AND of course the elephant in the room which is FFVIIR still not being available on Xbox (even after the “timed” exclusivity period “expired”) while SE was again vague about FFVIIR-2 “timed” exclusivity deal.
I guess for any good business relationship to work there should be goodwill and trust from both sides and at this point I think Xbox sees nothing of the latter two from the SE side so maybe they decided to give up…and rightfully so I may add.
Lately, I think Jez Corden must have learned that he gets more clicks putting the blame on Xbox. He might be in need of them, idk. I usually defend him, however, how he can be certain the this false FF pixel outrage is Xbox fault, even knowing the relation with square with brand and Sony. What he would expect? that in order to get this pixel collection MS paid an unfair price for it or how would he know there are no contract stuff involving Sony about that? As a reporter, he should investigate the causes and stop jumping on conclusion for clicks.
Xbox console’s sales aren’t important, so they don’t need to release it on Xbox
As someone who loved the first game, this hurts.
I really wonder why studios have been doing this. Everything about Xbox. Is the console really a pain to dev for or something? I just don’t get it.
Ok, that’s a new low. wtf haha
It’s certainly weird how it’s coming to every damn platform, but not Xbox. The first one was indeed cool. I can’t imagine being hard to develop for being the issue, tons of indies develop for Xbox.
Maybe it wasn’t worth the dev cost to release on Xbox. Probably don’t think it will make money for them.
Also shouldn’t the question be asked why Square Enix is so content with releasing their games only on Japanese Platforms. It looks like they don’t care about their market for the Western Console. I guess if it was the other way around you know how people would be reacting. They market the game coming to Xbox after a year so what made them skip the platform mysteriously. Shouldn’t that be sued for false advertising.
And as you says Jez knows MS tried to improve the relationship and still Square behaves the way it does and demands preferential treatment. Still that guy accuses MS being at fault. C’mon man give me a break. At this point its only him being disingenuous. He only cares for his clicks.
And TBH I don’t even care if Square Enix go full exclusive. Atleast be forthcoming, just say it. Let it be the battle between the eastern and western developers. MS should pull the plug on some games from the Sony platform. Lets see how it goes.
I’m sorry you can miss me with that b******* with all the cost upon this on Xbox you putting this game on the Netflix app that has no audience for games versus one with the first one was f*** out of here I’m sick of those b******* and honestly if you don’t want to bring your game on there cool but then again this studio is owned by Netflix now so they got to deal with the consequences
Steam is Japanese?
But wasn’t the first one on Game Pass and was quite well played?
You would think Netflix would like to release their game on as many platforms as possible.
He would but Netflix is moronic with their own business decisions remember this is the same company who’s trying to still get rid of password sharing
my guess?. it’s just the case of dev prioritizing that gamepass money bag over releasing game on the platform. with or without gamepass.
I just don’t know whats going on anymore. Games starting to avoid the console, games running worse than on Playstation when they shouldn’t be etc etc. I honestly wonder if there are metrics out there that Xbox is really not doing as good as we are led to believe or simply, people are not buying or playing games on Xbox. Tons of good games slowly leaving gamepass and imho the quality going back on doesn’t make up for it.
The brand has definitely lost momentum but it still does not make sense.
Timing is key factor, especially the game pass leaving. It all lands on the timeline that was set to leave. So you’re in a land of coincidence.
