First party bundles still mean a lot to casual folks who aren’t ready for game pass. I think a Series S and X Starfield bundle would do a lot for people wanting an Xbox this holiday who aren’t aware of game pass.
The PlayStation, and Nintendo switch migrants would feel comfortable just getting a Starfield bundle because that’s the game people could be buying an Xbox for this holiday.
Besides stupidly skipping Xbox with the pixel remaster of final fantasy games because you honestly could grow audience more but having the original games on here there’s something I realized that’s stupid about this collection The f****** pricing dude these should at most should be like 10 bucks each , some of these are like 17 which don’t make no damn sense
Disagree, for the average casual gamer having a bundle with a First Party game that’s considered highly anticipated or great is a good deal. A lot of casuas don’t even pay for PlayStation or Game Pass Ultimate /Gold. The woman I’m dating for example has a lot of game consoles and doesn’t pay for Nintendo Switch Online or PS+, if you want to play an online game, the great free to play titles don’t require paying for online.
It’s not as front and center like they used to have it, both in retail and online. You’ll see a change when they buy cod. Believe me, those call of duty Xbox series X and S bundles are going to move a lot of stock.
Eh, PS+ and Nintendo Online are not essential to those ecosystems unlike Game Pass for Xbox. If those two had their first party games in there it would be different.
Phil Spencer said “ For us at Xbox, there’s not one business model that we think is going to win. I often get asked by developers, ‘If I’m not in the subscription, am I just not viable on Xbox anymore?’ It’s absolutely not true. We look at retail–people selling games, buying games–it’s an important part of our P&L. Free-to-play games, we want those to flourish on our platform. It’s really about the diversity of business models”
I think we all will agree that the situation with Redfall isn’t ideal, far from it. Xbox needs to knock it out of the park and this game absolutely easily should have been 60fps, no need to sugar coat it. On that I definitely agree. On top of that comes the super sloppy way Ghostwire Tokyo has been handled, sorry but we can and should expect better from XGS. Thankfully all previous games have been fine, so I’m not worried this is the new normal or anything.
The year started strong with Hi-Fi Rush out of nowhere, the delays for Starfield and FM were quite unfortunate, but it seems at least Starfield really is on track for September, it better be, heh. They shot themselves in the foot last year with the whole “twelve months” thing, and then without really announcing them as delays delay Starfield and FM. So I really hope they don’t do this again in June.
It’s absolutely a fact that Xbox doesn’t have all their stuff together and definitely need to. The Redfall situation can’t only be a Arkane problem, same as GT. It is true that we are still very much waiting for all these brand new studios to deliver, and I truly hope they got some good stuff for June. Hopefully at some point we get to what their plan has been, to have a much more steady lineup of releases. But honestly, it hasn’t been bad at all this year so far. HFR was a pleasant surprise and Minecraft is a big game too, I don’t care one bit about it, but that is of no importance, it IS a big game.
I don’t recall anything big so far this year for PS5, and now starting in June with FF16 and Spidey later on. They did have a much better 2020 and 2022 though.
As for the other stuff, well here in Holland it’s quite bad. Big stores have small sections for Xbox, in fact one big toy store didn’t have Xbox at all, no console, no games. My cinema has this big gaming thing going on for months now, PS is there, PC is there, who isn’t there? Yep, and it’s sad, I wish they would do alot more. But it seems they are very ok with being the Game Pass provider and the console as secondary. It does feel like that sometimes.
They just need to get Redfall out the door, hopefully that 60fps patch is not a very long wait and then if all goes well we’ll finally play Starfield in september. And then hopefully 2024 has some real strong releases too. Guess June will make that clear.
Xbox has went from being utterly dreadful in terms of first party studios to a staggering amount of studios and IP at their disposal, when you put it all on papar they arguably have by far the best and biggest in the industry and after the ABK deal is pretty much not even debatable anymore even if CoD and Blizzard aren’t everyone cup of tea
They’ve went from shit first party, shit hardware, little to no Japanese support to basically the complete opposite this gen even if certain Japanese support is sus at times
Yes, the last few months has had crappy news here and there but in the long term these are very minor things in the long run, MS are setting themselves up for the future, yes the wait sucks and MS getting a good cadence of big release titles should hopefully happen sooner than later but long term things have never looked brighter for the brand
Stop letting silly takes and “doom posting” on twitter or youtube distract you from reality
I’d be the captain on the doom train if it weren’t for Microsoft owning a potential 30+ studios, you know if I were to hazard guess at least some out of all of those would be able to release some great games and that’s being pessimistic. At some point with the more studios they have the higher chance of great games coming even if they did manage them poorly.
