Gotham Knights was considered a ‘bad’ game for several other reasons, not because of its 30 fps mode.
yeah the revisionism is crazy.
I was just comparing due to the technical limitation, not due to the game itself.
If Redfall is complete, why delay for something that will be added later and doesn’t prevent people from playing.
Did I say that? I’m just saying that comparing it to Gotham Knights, a bad game that was also criticized for it only having a 30fps option, is not exactly ideal.
If this game is to only launch with 30 fps, I expect it to justify it with reactive physics, advanced AI, etc.
You could always accuse me of that directly instead of replying to another person.
There is no revisionism: Gotham Knights Has Problems Beyond 30FPS - The DF Tech Review - All Consoles Tested | Digital Foundry
Digital Foundry, IGN, and many others considered it an issue with the game. There was a similar controversy when the 30 fps cap was announced.
I understand, I’m just saying that Redfall shouldn’t end up falling into the same category because the 30 fps cap definitely ended causing the scores to fall.
For a lot of people, they can’t play shooters at 30fps, so to them its unplayable till its an option.
Really, then I wonder if that a lot of people you mention, played any first person shooter a few generations back.
As I and others have said, as times change and tech gets better, it gets different. For example early CG movies at the time looked groundbreaking and incredible. Hell PS1 graphics looked amazing! But now you try and go back and watch those movies or play those games and they are rouughhh. Once you know better and have experienced better, it can be extremely hard to go back.
I myself am fine as long as its a locked 30 now. I used to not care but the more I played games at 60, the less I could handle 30. I hate it myself but its a reality.
Anyone can play a single player campaign in a first person shooter game perfectly fine at 30fps, if the game offer versus multiplayer then I understand the complain, but correct me if I’m wrong, but Redfall doesn’t have a versus multiplayer? and if anyone want to play it at 60fps, the good news is a patch is underway.
True, but many of the people that are complaining are old dudes. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Your constant handwaving away complains is silly. I get it you don’t care about framerate at all, tons of people do.
Like I said at the end of the day if its a rock solid 30fps it will be fine for me to play. If its not and there is no performance mode to fall back on then it won’t really be enjoyable to play at this point. Will have to wait to launch to know for sure. All they said is the patch will come out on a later date. When that later date is will definitely matter. Weeks okay, months? not so much. Especially because its a co-op focused game.
It’s safe to assume if the announcement was reversed and it’s performance only that’s launching, everyone would be happy in compare. Like a principal of the school sadly announced school closure as the kids uproariously cheered.
You are talking about the hardcore gamers who cares about this stuff, but they are the minority. The majority of the gamers (casuals) don’t care or know the difference between 30fps or 60 fps.
They may not be able to tell you if a game is 30fps or 60fps but they will be able to tell if a game feels bad, or slow or has big performance dips. They won’t be able to identify what it is but they will just say “I don’t like it, it feels bad.” The biggest difference is hardcore gamers can explain what it is. That said if a game is developed around 30fps and can run solidly without issues and dips then for the vast majority of people it is probably fine. But the fact that they can’t get a 60 fps running on console when all the game play vids have it running at 60, doesn’t give me hope that the console version will be well optimized or running well. I mean, we haven’t seen it run on console at all yet so I guess we will find out in a few weeks. Wonder if people do have issues if you will find a way to try and hand wave that away as well.
Fortunately, people nowadays want 60fps, which is way better for the gameplay. I don´t know if I am so spoiled or what but I can´t play 90% of 30fps games anymore.
Looks like Ubisoft+ is imminent. There’s a 5 point challenge on the MS Rewards app on console telling you to discover Ubisoft+ - click on the link and it’s broken, so I reckon maybe tomorrow.
Still can’t believe Xbox users consider themselves “second class citizens” even though they have more Gamepass games than their pc counterparts. Such a freaking ridiculous post from Klobrille over a game not having 30 fps mode at launch. Console warrior state of mind.
“casuals” played rdr2 on console and loved it. relax.
The biggest point there is all the of the previews, gameplay etc were not shown running from an Xbox. It was all shown running from PC.
lol!! I’m not hand wave anything, my point is people are creating drama without knowing the reasons for that decision and either way a patch it’s coming and what game doesn’t have issues at released.
