XboxEra Community Hangout |OT| Safe Space no longer required (Part 1)

Absolutely. I’d much rather have a shorter game instead of a longer, repetitive one that just feels like a slog to play. 20-30 hours is what appeals to me the most. I played Yakuza: Like a Dragon for 60 hours but I didn’t mind it because it was actually FUN to play the entire time and I wanted to play more. Can’t say the same for AC Valhalla.

Ubisoft had the perfect formula with Origins and just threw it out the window with Odyssey and Valhalla.

No reason any Asassins Creed main story should be over 40 hours.

I thought Origins was also way too long and big. AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations had the perfect length.

No Origins had the perfect formula in terms of marrying open world, main story and actual side content being side content.

None of AC2, brotherhood or revelations are valid comparisons since they are a different style of AC game entirely.

Yeah, friend of mine complained about this too. He bought a Series X with Valhalla, but after many hours and many sidequests he decided to quit the game and play something else on Game Pass instead.

I haven’t played the game, but I did play Odyssey and while I did enjoy it overall, it did get exhausting in the end and I am slightly disappointed Valhalla has made the same mistake. Ubisoft really needs to learn that less is sometimes more.

Depends on what it actually is. I am NOT a Star Wars fan and have never ever seen a single film but The Mandalorian on Disney+ is freaking awesome!!! And I loved Jedi Fallen Order. So basically, just depends on what it is. I’m hoping for the return of Star Wars 1313. That gameplay demo from 2012 looked insane back then so imagine today. Oh man.

Yeh I was similar. Finished the game on about 75 hours and bee-lined that back 30 hours.

75 hours is too long. It’s a shame because I really liked AC:V but it’s a definite let down as it just screws the pacing up completely. If still give it an 8. But if it finished 25 hours earlier I would have given it an 8.5.

The story doesn’t develop enough to warrant those extra 25 hours.

The plan worked!

Agree 100%.

I do it in large chunks off and on. It’s WAY too much content. It helps to just put on a podcast or music or something in the background while playing.

Speaking of Assassins Creed, it used to be my Fav series and I really enjoyed them up until Origins.

Tired Odyssey and by the 25th hour mark it felt like I am doing the same thing over and over and over again with no change.

Even the main story quest design is like open world bloat which to me felt lazy. I gave up after the 25th hour mark and heard Valhalla was even longer and with more bloat so I dont think I will play that game.

Assassins creed tried to be a RPG but it doesnt have the characters, story IMO and I hope they go back to moderate length Campaigns.

Also doenst get mentioned a lot but I really AC Syndicate and the main Protagonists are fun

I think the prequel-sequel trilogy thing they’re doing peaked with Origins.

Origins was FUCKING AMAZING. The new formula was fresh, Bayak was fucking great, watching the birth of the Assassin’s/Hidden Ones was great.

Then Odyessy was the prequel to the prequel, which connection to the Origins was only revealed in controversial paid DLC, then Valhalla is the sequel to the prequel to the prequel.

They messed up somewhere.

I mean for crying out loud, unless something changes, YOU’RE NOT EVEN AN ASSASSIN in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. They just give you a Hidden Blade and they say “Hey can you take care of this giant conspiracy order for us? Thanks bye”.

KILLING TEMPLARS/ORDER OF ANCIENT MEMBERS IS ONE OF THE BIG SIDEQUESTS in the game and they just give to Eivor… because? The game is called Assassin’s Creed!

Oh god, I love the game but it’s got serious problems.

Please mark any details or spoilers for Valhalla with a spoiler tag, thanks.

Those weren’t really spoilers, but if enough people complain I’ll do it.

Edited.

It’s more of a side quest. I’ll edit it. Actually it’s literally a sidequest.

Okay, cool. Thanks.

@ProgStopper you arent even an assassins in Odyssey :sob::sob:

Oh yeah right… I actually forgot about that…

Man most of Odyssey has vaporized from my mind, and I played that game like 100 hours…

However, I give the same some credit for it’s controverisal connection to Origins by claiming that the Inu selected breeding to Kassandra which in turn her having her baby lead to a genetic line that lead to Bayak and the birth of the Assassin’s. Lol I love this game series but what a studio plotpoint in a DLC.
