What’s different about it?
All I was told (in July last year) was that it’s highly unlikely to come to Xbox.

If you were told this 8 months ago and if by April, there’s no announcement of FF7R coming to Xbox, then I think it’s safe to say that it’s never coming to Xbox and I would imagine that the same thing will happen with FFXVI.

Yep I wonder why sony is so aggressive with these 3rd party games they have the market share anyway
The besides moving to the rendering engine that powers Chrome instead of Internet Explorer. It’s how MS will deliver xCloud to the XB1s and their older consoles.

Hopefully this makes watching live sports on the browser a lot easier.
It’s just moving from the Chakra Engine to Chromium. It is still Edge. Not Internet Explorer. IE removal was ages ago.
MS has stopped work on Internet Explorer or releasing them by default , years back. The original Edge is still a masterpiece. The issue is that developer support had been now pigeon holed into Webkit (for Safari) and Chromium/Chrome. Good browsers like Firefox and Edge apparently are in the minority, sadly.
This is the natural next step - xcloud on every machine out there.

Sony has fear, uncertainty and doubt when it comes to the PS5. I do find it funny (and a waste of money) that Sony pays Square Enix for timed exclusivity when even released on the same day, 90% of sales will be on PS5 for their games so I don’t even see the point to be honest outside of Sony doing it just because they can.
Thinking about it though, it could also be because Sony knew about the Microsoft/ZeniMax negotiations and that Microsoft was most likely going to acquire them and because they also most likely know that their games will be exclusive to Xbox/PC and paying for timed/full exclusivity is basically their counter to it because they’re unlikely to acquire a publisher.

they want certain third parties to equal playstation in mindshare, as in whenever the game is brought up, it should be necessarily associated to their brand. They did that with SF5, which still isn’t on Xbox btw, despite the series being multiplat prior to it. They did it to Spiderman in a goddamn live service avengers game, and they’re doing it to Final Fantasy now. Also they pretty much have the FPS market mindshare due to COD marketing rights. A game as big as that, and its mere association with Playstation through marketing is enough to sway the mindshare to that platform by a lot.

Exactly. Thought Playstation needs the mindshare because xbox has Halo.
I do wonder what Playstation answer will be to WRPG. Maybe the go all in on high budget FF?
And to the who are annoyed by Playstation securing FF let’s make a 180 and think how Bethesda fans on Playstation feel atm. It’s the same.
Xbox has three in house WRPG in addition to Bethesda. What Playstation is for cinematic singleplayer games xbox is for WRPG.
Competition is important. Without it we would have never seen gamepass, or we would’ve never seen games like Sea of Thieves.
I gave my decent share of anger because of FF not coming to xbox but that’s just feelings. And if you really wanna change that don’t buy FF on Playstation. I certainly can’t resist. So it does work.

Pathetic, and extremely sad SE would just go with that. Just when things finally started to improve in terms of Xbox getting Dragon Quest, the older FF games.

I guess I gotta start realizing the strong possibility that we won’t see further FF titles anytime soon on Xbox. And this is how Sony will succeed in having their brand even more associated with FF, I guess it is what it is.
