Were the Fortnite + Rocket League bundles available during Black Friday? That was a bit of marketing genius for parents that were most likely going to pick up a PS4 (which is the same price) to play those games.
Having both games on the box is critical in informing parents that aren’t too knowledgeable so it was a great move.
I don’t think it exists, but I would like to see data to see how many PS4 were sold in the last 3 years to people who wanted to play those free to play games.
Xbox was not an option due to the Live Gold requirement, and obviously that’s not an issue anymore and the Series S can really fit into an affordable F2P machine (that can hit the performance levels of a $600 PC) as well as a Game Pass machine.
I wish Xbox would also do a console for the super high end market. Like a 1000$ Box. With the architecture today it would be possible to do an Xbox Series X Elite with 24TF or something. I would buy that instantly.
I meant Campaign, not MP. I think MP runs pretty appropriately on every console, but the campaign being 30fps on Series S and that too dynamic 1080p, something is not right.
EDIT:
Looks like there is 60fps in this video that someone else posted on the campaign thread which is good news.
I know a couple friends who got the series S because the X and PS5 are unattainable. Every digital game they buy will carry over to the Series X which kinda locks in their upgrade path to the Series X when it comes available.
Doesn’t matter if people are only buying because they cant get an X/PS5, MS certainly dont care, the point is they are now in that ecosystem and the more you’re in one, the harder it is to get them to leave and I imagine when one experiences game pass, its never been harder to leave, the thought of buying full price games anymore is just…
“It’s only selling because it’s the only thing in stock”
Do people normally buy $300 items they’re completely uninterested in? lol
Like, I’m sure there’s a small element of that to it. There’d have to be. But acting like it’s the whole explanation for it seems disingenuous at best.
I mean, we used to hear about how they’re sitting on shelves because no one wanted it. Now it’s flying off shelves despite no one wanting it.
It can’t possibly because Xbox has an interesting ecosystem with hundreds of games available at a low price with a killer holiday lineup including FH5 and Halo Infinite in addition to other hit games including Psychonauts 2, Flight Sim, Back 4 Blood, Grounded, Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life and other incredible titles for a monthly low price.
At least I haven’t seen folks say its only because they’re looking for a cheap 4K HDR bluray player. That was constant banter about the Xbox One S. Yes, we’re aware Series S doesn’t have an optical drive, but those social media warriors may not.
Imagine the damage this does to those physical media chart worshipers.
Some of the reactions I’ve seen to this elsewhere, it’s like if some people had a gun to their head and their choice was to die or compliment Microsoft on something, some of them would just yell “Pull the trigger”
Is it that hard to give somebody credit when credit is due?
