Xbox multi platform discussion

Dude just focus on the games and forget about the hardware let Xbox and Sony worry about that. Right now, you get games what does it matter if another platform gets it. Look at the new Xbox slogan “This is an Xbox”.

You can post funny pictures all you want. Simply saying the truth that SONY used have its own PC line and with SONY Europe published SONY games on the PC during the PS1 era won’t change that.

Anyone can make their own PC line or publish on a PC it’s an open platform. Microsoft just makes the operating system and API, that’s it.

Google makes the main OS for most mobiles I don’t see people saying a Samsung Galaxy phone is Google because of its OS.

So I don’t get why so many people like to label the PC as Microsoft

This tweet couldn’t have come at a better time to emphasise my above post :stuck_out_tongue:.

I see your post and agree. I’ve thought Microsoft should merge the Xbox platform and app as one or make the platform the Xbox app, that way the platform is no longer a box but a digital one that can be native on capable devices. I guess this campaign was the reason for the interview.

It is always a bit worrying when an ecosystem where you did put investissement (buying games), is changing its global strategy.

That’s how I felt the last 2-3years. I knew I was gonna have good games with the acquisition, but I was worried by how unclear the Xbox strategy was presented.

If Microsoft & Xbox have a clear strategy to follow for the next decade, and stick to it both with action and discourse, it is a really good news

That’s really good

I think this is why we shouldn’t be worried about the investments we have made into Xbox.

Having our content restricted on devices which go out of date/stop working is always more risk.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve brought the Star Wars trilogy over the years across VHS/DVD/Blu-ray and now Digital.

This way we can access our ‘investments’ everywhere, it’s more practical, consumer friendly and less risky.

Actually, MS wants you to “play anywhere.”

PC GP is cheaper mainly because it contains less games, doesn’t include Xbox Live or EA Play, and is trying to lure players away from Steam and others.

I’d also say that PC gaming is not nearly as hassle-free as console or cloud.

Saying PC gaming is anywhere nearly as easy to just get into a game when compared to console would be the most egregious lie ever told in the gaming sphere, and I hope no one here tries to spin that nonsense. Saying PC is perfect for everyone is extremely reductive and pulling from a selfish-perspective: not everyone enjoys gaming the same way or in the same form, so there is no perfect solution for everyone.

Case in point, I play on everything but PC is my least-used platform specifically because at least 20% of my “gaming time” is almost always tinkering with settings to get things remotely as smooth/easy as my consoles. Ara, for example, has sucked me in (amazing game), but it’s pretty intensive and my system is a bit lopsided, so I’m still having to figure out what works best… even after 20 hours of play.

I’ll go as far as saying this campaign is the best bit of marketing Xbox have done.

It’s a shame they haven’t managed to put out a proper marketing campaign to actually sell their consoles in the lead up to this

But…. Now they’ve gone this route I’m glad they actually put out a campaign that will actually make their outlook clear and will hopefully help get the games media/ journo’s heads around things and start reporting on it on the basis of the campaign instead of just using console sales numbers as the metric.

The problem is & it was mentioned above once consoles are gone and it’s the app they really need to plan to take everything back exclusive rather than just keep things everywhere as again they’ll be no reason to sign up to the Xbox app over the PlayStation app and we’ll be back arguing over the same thing

Personally what I think they are missing from this campaign is distinguishing Xbox is no longer a console it’s a platform

They need to change people from saying I’ve got and I’m playing on a Xbox console to I’m playing ON Xbox the platform. Whether it be tv laptop pc console phone

At the moment in my opinion it’s feels like Gamepass is the platform whilst Xbox is the console.

Where people will saying I’m playing it on gamepass. But the hardware is still classed as means of delivery and the console is only Xbox

They need to find a way of making XBOX the platform

Buying an Xbox doesn’t just have to be about exclusives. Lets say you have the Xbox App on your TV and buy some games. Later you decide to buy a game console. It makes sense to buy an Xbox if you already have an Xbox account full of games you were playing over the cloud before. It doesn’t really matter if the same games can be bought for the PS6 at that point. Likewise you may buy and Xbox knowing you can take your Firestick with you and access your games/account over the cloud.

There are games that are Play Anywhere right now where it makes sense for multiplatform owners to buy on Xbox/PC over PS and the cloud access will give even more reason to.

I don’t think Xbox’s moves are just because of lagging Series sales, it’s the whole market. Something like 1/2 of console gamers are still on last gen. So when Sony isn’t converting PS4 players to PS5 that impacts their decisions too. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell you that people are going to move over even slower next gen. Heck if the tariff thing happens it will be chaos.

I’m not a mod, but I am pretty sure the mods would agree with me that we need to respect people’s opinions, so please don’t place memes as replies if you disagree. It’s like saying, “I disagree with your point, so I’m going to place this meme here to make fun of it.”

Thats a great good point. I think too many people assume that anyone who how owns a PC had great tech inside it when a lot of people only use the PC for online banking/shopping, social media and have basic tech that would hardly play Xbox One games never mind current gen offerings

When this happens I would say that Xbox has then released one of their flagship titles for the first time on other devices. So far I don’t consider the already released games that.

But it shouldn’t shock anyone once it does, there being no red line and all. But I do still think it be wise if they keep some stuff exclusive (albeit timed) for next Xbox console launch.

I think it would be unwise to release 5 on PS5. If they’re going to release Horizon then they should do it with 6. Releasing 5 on PS5 is a major risk because there’s a chance many are okay with 5 and won’t get 6 until its on sale.

I don’t understand what this means.

Was trying to say if they’re going to bring Forza Horizon series to PS5 then better to do it with 6 instead of 5. I feel there’s a risk bringing FH5 to playstation due to people that bought 5 might be okay with that entry and wait for a sale for FH6.
