Worse would be there being no games

I despise Phil to a genuine passion, cause this takes the cake of being an absolute jerk. Not only for lying to console users but also making them look like the butt of the joke every single time he speaks.
It like Playstation this Playstation that and Playstation everywhere.
Meanwhile, Xbox hardware with its Gamepass showing utter joy and having multiple games being skipped.
No wonder so many are pissed at him and Satya. Its well freaking deserved.
At Xbox, everybody but Xbox Users wins is the best motto i can give to this entire show and to Phil Spencer.
Honestly, i honestly want this company gone if they continue to be this dishonest with consoles users. So that folks can go to other places and be better respected for their investments and communities than somebody who does not care about consoles and its userbase.
The company doesnât have to go for you to go to another place. You could do it right now.
Some of you need to grow up, itâs still that sinple
Exactly, I am more of a console player and I love Game Pass, so I have no incentive to go elsewhere, where I would have to buy every game I want to play, or subscribe to a worse service. Things are changing, and I think mentality will as well.
I just checked the Xbox Reddit. Guys I donât think fans are too happy with Xbox right now
I donât think this strategy is going anywhere so might as well learn to accept it. The fact is game franchises are potentially worth more than any sort of console exclusivity benefit. They arenât just selling a game for $60 and have to rely on units sold. Games are âGAASâ now and can be worth billions on their own.
Xbox franchises may not be important enough to force PS to play ball today, but tomorrow is a different story. Corporations tend not to like revenue going backwards, so if something like Sea of Thieves or Indy make PS a bunch of money from their cut it gives MS a lot of leverage.
The more important of a publisher Xbox is to PS, the more PS has to play nice. If it doesnât work then it doesnât work, then Xbox games wonât go to PS anymore, simple as that.
Well what if theyâre tied to a particular console because that is the only console with single screen and 8 years dual analog controller support? And that less console sales and fewer people with that console is detrimental to their success?
And thatâs my point. Not sure why you were trying to argue the fact that to some, console sales matter. That Microsoftâs profitability is one thing but the success of their partners is another.
I wasnât referring to social media.
Iâm talking about how consoles sales are still important to developers. Both big and small.
If itâs about things like that, fine, but Iâm pretty certain thatâs a very small section of them.
Iâm ârudeâ but you post the obvious like I wouldnât understand console platforms are important to devs. And I was never trying to argue âsales donât matterâ.
Look, youâre not saying anything new or that they Xbox doesnât understand. You simple believe their multiplatform strategy will lose them the support third parties because of lagging sales. I donât. I believe that Xboxâs ecosystem is appealing enough, and they themselves have enough games with widespread appeal to still move consoles enough that they maintain great third party support. Yes, multiplat games can move consoles and do so more than most exclusives. And in fact, it would behoove them to maintain those relationships with third party because they make their money off the store attached to their consoles.
It is very tiresome to have to repeat this point over and over again. You can disagree sure, but itâs not just people âcopingâ or being âxbox shillsâ as some in this thread would.
Meanwhile, those like yourself donât even try to put forth a reasonable strategy as to how Xbox can drastically boost itâs console sales that are in the realm of reality.
Whatever.
After meeting and talking with actual people in the industry, the only thing I think now is that none of us have any idea how any of this actually works.
The very fact Xbox needs to âdrastically boost its salesâ is in & of itself evidence of an unhealthy market. Infinite growth is a fools errand. Itâs also an absurdity.
Take the TV market for example: no one at Panasonic threatens to shutter their TV division âjust becauseâ LG, Samsung & Sony are bigger. In fact for a long time Panasonicâs Oled TVâs were the standard used by Hollywood for their post-production work despite the fact Panasonic doesnât even sell TVâs in the US market.
So when Microsoft (one of the biggest two corporations in the world) starts talking about growth, growth, growth for the Xbox division like this is a do or die moment for the brand, I disagree entirely. If a brand with 50 million or so console owners canât find a way to continue its business without massively expanding, then thereâs something very, very wrong with the maths.
It seems to me like Activision-Blizzard was basically too big to acquire, i.e. it was so big, it made Xbox & its profits look paltry compared to the potential of third party profits which made ABK billions every quarter. And I think thatâs the basic premise behind some of the unease you see among Xbox players, i.e. it has absolutely nothing to do with âconsole warringâ or such trivialities but the feeling that the console side of the business is no longer the priority & for MS itâs now about the potential money they can make from third party sales.
I also think Gamepass is no longer a priority either & the price increase (+5 euros a month since last year for the âcorrectâ tier aka Ultimate) is basically just a tax on hardcore players to keep their toys profitable for MS.
Not like Reddit is as toxic as X or anythingâŚ
I promise you it is not a do or die situation nor is Game Pass not a priority. Promise

NCAA was the major factor for sales. It does show you should be okay as long as you get big multiplat titles. Weâll most likely see a similar spike when GTA VI launches.
And now look at the profit margins of Panasonic and compare them to Microsoft. Its not a good example.
Cue certain media figures being surprised and then saying oh maybe the Series S was a good idea for 2 weeks until theyâre back to saying it was the worst decision ever made.
