Well it seems like it compared to Phil handling of its own community.
This is why am concerned for Xbox only Users, if today Microsoft Suits think they will get more money by porting now imagine their surprise if no one shows up to buy Xbox products because of the stunts pulled this year alone.
Honestly they need a wake up call. This is super frustrating and folks seems to think its gonna fine but no its not gonna be and folks refuse to see that. Cause Sony and Nintendo never gonna port nothing to Xbox because of their fans in the media and influencers.
Your perspective is certainly possible tho I think part of CP77âs redemption was people learning that it wasnt GTA6 and then months later accepting that. I have some hope people will eventually realize they shouldnt play Starfield like Fallout or Elder Scrolls, but who knows.
The goal is profit. Not console sales. I see a future where Xbox is perfectly happy selling 10 to 15m consoles each gen in the future but absolutely coins it in from subscriptions across devices, mobile and and multi platform releases.
Any chance this topic can now be merged into the other topic from a few months ago? Better off having one topic that can just get bumped when thereâs a new rumor turned fact instead of new topics.
What exactly did they promise? They sell consoles and games and can choose to change strategy as they see fit. Nothing in their T&Câs obligate them to placate âfansâ by sticking to a particular model.
However if they continue to make moves like this, it will be harder to see any benefits from having their consoles if they just ported everything under the sun to satisfy shareholders interest.
Now sure Tom has said that not everything is considered for playstation and whatnot but how can anyone be calm with Phil happily stating about consoles sales when data shows that it was not great, where its only USA that seemed to be in a good spot.
Also why do i feel like no one gives a dang thing about the whole thing? Like i only have one console, like is it that hard for people to see why i think this is awful from a consumerâs point of view? Sure gamepass is a good service but just that alone does not cut it and if they think it does they are dead wrong.
Am curious to see how the holidays play in affect during the next few months. Also i think Phil should be banned from doing interviews, its like the guy canât,for the life of him, read a room for god sake.
Massive install base alone doesnât say much, what matters the most is the software attach ratio of this install base and of course if Sonyâs expensive AF AAA games can sell enough to not only break even but to have a profit tooâŚand if last gen is an indication Sonyâs 1st party games this generation will be very very expensive.
About what Spencer said itâs pretty clear that thereâs a big shift in strategy pushed from above, letâs hope that they will learn things/adapt fast to this more open than before/multiplatform future of Xbox.
Watch the clip again, Phil Spencer says their console players are as high as ever, not the sales of the actual console.
And people do care, but I think you need to think about the situation with a clearer head and a better understanding of where the industry is heading. These companies are not your friends and donât owe you a thing, they simply want more money. Treat them the same, if they arenât doing it for you, move on and spend your money elsewhere.
For me, itâs been clear for a while that PC is the best platform for me looking forward. I want the extra power, full Ray-tracing, plus, everything apart from Nintendo games end up there, Iâm just waiting to see what the next Xbox console is like and for Microsoft to figure out a way to get QR working on PC.
Not everyone can afford a PC you know, its more expensive, its better to get a Steam Deck or something alike.
My fears are that they think its wise to port their massive flagships(Forza was talked over but am talking Gears and Halo) over to other platforms. That to me would kill everything for me as a Xbox only user.
If that were to happen and we get nothing from Playstation or Nintendo i would genuinely cry that the platform i had with me since i little kid is officially no more than a distant memory that is treated as absolute garbage by the majority of gamers.
The console war is over. They gave it an honest shot but itâs over brother. Enjoy your Xbox games like you would enjoy any other third party pubs games because hanging on to the old ways of (unhealthy)attachment is becoming increasingly silly as Microsoft continues down this path.
I could give two sssss about that. Its my childhood, it holds a lot of fond memories for me from simplier times.
Also am not about console warring, I do not attack Playstation Users while they are down, i had played ps2 games before but after PS3 fans have not been the same and it sickens me, but they do so with Xbox users cause its great for engagement.
Look i know you mean well, i do see it. But this overall direction makes me feel like this is gonna be another dreamcast moment and that could lead to the death of folks yearâs worth of library being gone, i feel like Microsoft would actually do that just to satisfy their own greed and interests.
I clearly said âfor meâ. As for the rest of your post, my advice is to stop being so attached to these brands and go where your needs are best served. I prefer the games Xbox make over Sony and Nintendo, so Iâll gravitate to what platforms they release their games on first.
Youâll always have your childhood memories though (mental health withstanding of course). I still reminisce about my C64, Megadrive, Saturn, and Dreamcast days, even if those platforms are long gone!
Even in the event of Xbox no longer making consoles, itâs not as if your library will suddenly vanish. You can still keep the console and play what you purchased, as Iâm sure theyâll still keep the servers on for us to download games. If not, the hacking community will likely jump in to save the day and crack the consoles open.
If youâre talking physical library, then that was always going to be at the mercy of how long your hardware lasted. Your digital library and cloud saves are safe.
The problems are industry problems, but the way the impact each platform is different for obvious reasons.
Nintendoâs game budgets are not in line with typical AAA games, so they are not impacted in the same way.
Sony has larger market share, but their profit margins are bad so they are also (slowly) looking towards PC and other consoles to improve profits. Most of us expect the time from console to PC to shorten.
Yeah thereâs no turning back on the multiplatform approach.
The one more thing announcement at the end is normally for things really exciting and everyone is expecting, so if your one more thing is Indy on PS5 you are telling me okay, Indy is on Xbox because they bought Bethesda but hereâs what you are all expecting.
