Sony is clearly doing very well but they don’t have the software to meet PS2 era demand for their console. You just have to look at the various disappointed reactions online after the February State of Play, i.e. PlayStation players are super thirsty for all the AAA ‘masterpieces’ they want on the system, but what do they really have coming in 2023? Final Fantasy 16 & Spiderman. The rest is… disposable.
I want to see what Bloober does with Silent Hill 2 Remake but I doubt it lights up the sales chart (& won’t sell 10 million like they were rumored to expect).
Hi fi Rush (out, but doesn’t count), Age of Empires 2 (out, but doesn’t count), Age of Empires 4 (no date, doesn’t count), Minecraft (multi plat, doesn’t count?), Forza (no date, doesn’t count).
So lots of games that you are choosing to ignore for various reasons.
This is a fair point. Xbox needs to get games out faster. Fallout in 2035 is pretty unacceptable. Obviously that’s the most egregious example. But too many ips are also a good problem for Xbox to have, it just means that if Xbox ever gets it’s game pipeline moving it will be an embarrassment of riches.
I’ll ask again, What AAA games has MS got coming out this year, not games already out or games with no dates I wouldn’t really have Mindcraft down as AAA game or an exclusive, but never mind.
So far all we know is we’re getting Starfield and most prob Forza in the winter and then its all up in the air. To me no better (or worse) than SONY, other than SONY have a better track record of getting their big AAA games out.
I’m hoping we’ll get Hellblade 2, Avowed and Contraband this year, but who knows?
Right, pretty obvious straw man @TeamAndromeda used to describe Xbox . I don’t mind pointing out flaws in Xbox but clearly Xbox is the more exciting platform with many announcements already made. PlayStation is a desert when it comes to current gen games.
It’s not just Sony. Everyone but Microsoft is doing TV/traditional ads.
Playstation, Nintendo, Paramount, Amazon, Disney, Netflix, etc… are all doing the opposite of Xbox. For instance last December, Paramount+ launched here and they launched a big campaign (a lot of ads on TV / Internet / on billboards, you couldn’t miss them).
I think I’ve never seen a Xbox ad in years outside of some Twitter sponsored tweets (and they’re in last position by a fair margin, not the market leader). Last day I’ve even saw ads about the new PS+ formula in Reddit.
It’s a mystery for me why they’re spending 80 billion in acquisitions for Xbox but have a near 0 marketing budget in the same time.
And we’re getting 3 this year from MS? Forza hasn’t got a date so maybe I shouldn’t include that.
That’s to lookover SONY is coming off releasing 2 big AAA titles last year compared to nothing from MS
I don’t get the thinking why shouldn’t MS go mad this year. Forza, Hellblade 2, Avowed, Contraband are very different games. Get them out and push the series X like there’s no tomorrow and give it back to the PS fans and SONY.
It be nice to see the Series X has the best selling console at the end of the year, rather than the PSV. MS need to get some market share back from the PSV IMO
Redfall, Diablo 4, Forza, Starfield and Call of Duty makes 5. Of course thats relegating Minecraft Legends, Hi-Fi Rush, AOE 2,4, Ghostwire, Crash Team Rumble and Goldeneye. so sub AAA…but if we’re doing that…
… we can ignore Sonys entire release schedule since launch to ragnorok, since none of those were AAA (yes, including forbidden west, gt7 and ratchet)
It would be nice for PS5 to have some actual big selling games to compete with game passes mighty 40 million sellers, but alas, it doesn’t look likely.
It’s funny in Downtown Toronto I seen a bunch of ads for Halo TV show, but didn’t see anything for Halo Infinite. Also, I can’t remember the last time I see an Xbox ad for a game or service. Meanwhile, I’ve always seen ads for Playstation games like even Deathloop got a giant billboard here.
Also, Canada is considered one of the bigger markets, but I barely see any xbox ads on TV for games or gamepass. I think only major one I remember was MLB the show on gamepass was advertised during Bluejays games. Anyways, I think they really need to start using traditional marketing like TV ads, advertisement during sports events, etc. I think Starfield should be the start of major push to improve marketing
