Pretty sure Shadow Fall was the only shooter Sony made in the last ten years haha
This is true and why I still say Nintendo are the best developers still. Botw will beat out horizon and ghosts despite their graphics. Really and truly they are just Ubisoft like games with nicer graphics.
It’s also pretty obvious Microsoft has cut the marketing budget for Xbox heavily. If it was the 360 days they would be marketing Diablo 4 as if it’s an exclusive like ps did with Hogwarts legacy.
I mean, they are doing a Diablo 4 console bundle… and every single Diablo trailer has Xbox logos, they did the gameplay reveal during an Xbox event and I see Diablo ads on social media constantly (again, with Xbox logos and branding).
I would actually argue that Xbox are doing more for Diablo than PS did for Hogwarts. There wasn’t a Hogwarts bundle.
Are you us based?.
No, UK. But I don’t see why that’s relevant.
I seem to get there marketing in certain areas isn’t the best. But I remember the insane tv spot ads for halo back in the day.
Right, but how USEFUL are TV spots in 2023? Is that where the audience is? Do TV spots actually increase console sales or Game Pass subs? I would bet not, or else Xbox would do them.
Just because Sony does something doesn’t mean Xbox should do it too. Sony are very traditional in their marketing and business model and Xbox are very much not.
I’m a massive Mega CD and Sega Saturn fan and thought the OG Xbox was the best non SEGA console around and found the PS2 to be disappointing. I’ve never been one to go on sales or what reviews say is the best.
I do care mind that sales data means a lot when a developer is thinking what console it will lead on or even support
It peed me off how much fan the SONY fans were able to have at Xbox expense last gen with their more powerful console, the much better In-House support and how many PS4 exclusives scored 90+ on metash8t and as a massive Xbot one had nothing to counter back with (most of the time)
I thought it would be so different this gen, the best and most powerful console and Team Xbox is serious again about funding games. But I feel like a Spurs fan in some ways: who’s told Spurs have the best football stadium in the world, Spurs have the best facilities in the world and everything in place, it will get better while watching Arsenal top the league?
How much longer is the wait going to be. Really until I have Forza and Starfield loaded and playable on my console, I will no go on dates, because I’m sick of having hopes dashed.
I know its childish and pathetic, but I so want Xbox to do well, I so want to see what that 12 teraflop GPU can do and so want to ram it down the PS fans throats on Social Media
Its going a little off topic, but I find Nintendo/NCL to be one of the most overrated developers out there. I found Zelda: BOTW to be one of the most boring open world games out there, Mario Odyssey a massive step backwards from Galaxy 1 and 2
I miss the old Nintendo of the Snes and N64 era myself. Sorry
I think it’s because quite a few Xbox owners are like myself: we’ve owned consoles from all manufacturers at some point. As a kid in the early 1990’s I had the Nintendo, then I naturally went for the PlayStation (& have owned all of them except the PS4 Pro & PS5) & when the 360 started releasing must have games in the 2000’s, I got one for Gears of War, Halo 3, Fable 2 & Mass Effect.
Point being: I think lots of Xbox owners are probably like myself, aka we branched out & played what’s on offer elsewhere, i.e. I didn’t just cultishly stick to Sony & act like a zombie consumer programmed to buy Sony exclusives & hate on competing platforms.
It’s probably why fanboy behaviors are way, way more entrenched on the blue team (they never took the same journey & remained loyal… to a toy company “lol”). BTW, in an era where games cost 80 euros new, I really, really do not believe spending 300 or 500 euro on another console is a problem for someone who wants the best of both worlds (I believe Microsoft themselves revealed data in the Activision discussions with regulators which detailed how many Xbox owners also have a PlayStation, i.e. it was a substantial percentage).
It’s all about synergy. Individually ? Probably doesn’t do much. As a whole ? Effective.
I don’t think Sony is that traditional, it’s more so that they’re very aggressive with its marketing.
We’ll see MS move in the same way when they actually have an AAA game to market. We’ll see it with Starfield.
I do think Xbox should be teaming up with EA way more.
EA Sports PGA Golf is a new franchise, it could use the marketing push to get the word out that EA Golf is current generation only. People need to know their PS4 is obsolete. Also the game is cheaper with a Gamepass 10% discount/ free 10 hour trial. The Masters will have ads for it no doubt but I have no idea if there will be an Xbox logo at the end of the ad
This should’ve been an official bundle. It trended on Twitter.

NCAA football is back. Same deal as golf new franchise. The time to associate a new franchise with Xbox is when it launches after a decade of absence. Maybe it will have an Xbox logo at the end, don’t know? Also there should be college specific ad campaigns.
This to me would be proper synergy that helps both EA and Xbox.
Yeah, they are very aggressive and present. I think that’s the important part, they are everywhere. It obviously works too, PlayStation is the default console in a lot of markets.
I think if Xbox really are going for the Series S budget gaming approach, TV might actually be a good place to advertise lol.
It all comes back to the games though. With the big games the big marketing pushes makes sense. However, Sony does marketing even when they don’t have big games coming out. They push third parties as if their own, get advantages like extra content and haptic support which makes games like Hogwart’s Legacy treated as a PS game by a lot of people.
They associate themselves with things like Japanese games so much that we had journalists thinking Elden Ring was a PlayStation exclusive here. They just default to it.
When there are no big games first or third party to market, they market the brand. It’s sponsorships, random ads, PlayStation characters etc. They stay visible.
Playstation also put in an effort with localization, another thing Xbox does half heartedly. Both with games and marketing. Machine translated tweets aint it.
Damn, those consoles look awesome lol.
I do wonder what EA’s and Xbox relationship will be once the ABK deal goes thru. I think they’re a great pairing so I hope they continue their partnership.
I think that’s a product of PlayStation being the life line of Sony at this point.
There’s a sense of urgency and borderline territorial behaviour that Sony has with PlayStation that honestly we probably won’t ever get with MS/Xbox. If PlayStation dies, Sony dies. That’ll never be the case with MS/Xbox.
As for the other things you mentioned ? I do think Xbox will get to that point eventually. It’s a matter of “when”rather than “if”. Avowed, Fable, Hellblade etc etc of the worlds is where we’ll see the shift.
Yeah, I expect things to kick off with Xbox when the big games arrive. Bethesda is much better at marketing (especially in Europe) so both Redfall and Starfield should get much better exposure than the standard Xbox marketing.
This is one of the most batshit crazy things I’ve ever read so congrats I guess….
I said what I said. To be fair my avatar is this… I don’t fear the Twitter mob
I applaud the boldness lol….
