Xbox Games With Gold |OT| Get 'Em While You Still Can

That I agree with. If this ends up with them just calling it quits with Gold altogether, let’s go! And yeah, it definitely is getting worse and worse, that’s just something they don’t need to do, but sadly they are. Agree with that too.

I can only speak for myself but when I say shut it down I mean Xbox Live Gold, not just GwG. That half the ecosystem gets a weird tax to play the same games online but the other half doesn’t is not very consistent or fair.

And when the small benefits of that tax, like GwG, is getting worse and worse all the more reason to complain.

I’m still convinced that the paring down of GwG from 4 titles to 2 is when they were planning to get rid of Gold entirely, but there was a hitch in their plans. I’m guessing they were hoping to have a cloud tier or the Game Pass Family Plan and one of those things got held up, or possibly something like the scrutiny from the AKB deal meant they decided it was best to keep the program limping along with… not very high-profile games.

I expect we’ll wake up to news of big changes in the way they’re doing their subscriptions (though our time zones don’t exactly line up :stuck_out_tongue: )

I think Gold is staying for a while yet. I don’t think Microsoft cares if it’s “awkward” and “confusing” that the PC side of the ecosystem doesn’t have to pay for Gold, when Xbox users are still happily paying for it without really questioning it.

It took until last year even to remove the Gold paywall from free games, and that was just to fix PR from trying to increase the price of Gold.

Hopefully it won’t be like last year’s “news”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that you mention it they should’ve lost a good amount of Gold subs last year since a lot of people are playing Warzone, Fortnite e.t.c. (hell even Halo is f2p now) and don’t have to pay anymore. The thing is that they can have a big win in their hands with getting rid of this archaic thing that Gold is, this could automatically make the Xbox consoles the go-to systems for online multiplayer and actually help things like the fighting online scene.

I can’t tell though if MS is gonna fuck this up or not, hopefully they won’t. :man_shrugging:

Not that it’s performing like gangbusters, but this indicates that Halo Infinite is definitely not a dead game either :upside_down_face:

We often are quick to write off these Gold games, myself included.

But DO give Iris Fall a chance. So far it’s a cool puzzle/adventure game with what seems a sort of horror’ish vibe to it. It also has a nice gameplay mechanic similar to the one used in Compulsion’s Contrast, and some other games.

Try it :grinning:

All I figure is that Ill have two games to try out that no one ever heard of and that no one else will play. But hopefully February’s games will be more interesting than Autonauts and Iris Fall.

I haven’t played it but I thought Iris Fall looked visually interesting at least. Has some sort of Tim Burton looking, cel-shaded art style. Going by what Staffy said earlier it’s at least worth a try.
