Xbox Games Showcase & Starfield Direct |OT| SPOILER FREE

I like that PlayStation goes first with their showcase. Gives Xbox the time it need to maybe 1 up them.

Indeed, every other E3 it was always the opposite, for once Xbox is going 2nd. Wonder if they can actually change some stuff last minute or if there is so much involved with prepping months ahead that they can’t.

I feel like it’s been a while since a proper Sony showcase at this time of year, maybe they are ready to bring out the big guns?

Xbox should have atleast 2 weeks time to make some adjustment after the Sony showcase… If need be.

Xbox E3 2018 was the best for me personally. Cyberpunk 2077 reveal at the end, studio acquisitions, Metro Exodus, Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and more!!! Plus of course the reveal for Gears Tactics and Gears of War 5. Such a great freaking showcase.

2021 is my default favourite showcase of all time from Xbox.

Didn’t care about Xbox at all during the X1 era. Was too young and did not care about gaming enough to watch E3 during the 360 era.

2021 >> 2020 >>>>>>>>>>> 2022. In that order.

The show is pretty much set, I don’t think it’s possible to change things so late. You can’t get teams to make trailers so late.

The format will be similar to the latest Xbox direct I feel, because that direct had the best pacing of any Xbox show to date. Nice transitions between games give the audience a chance to digest what they saw and anticipation for the next game builds. This is something Sony did excellently in their PS5 showcase, where the built hype until the very end.

Tina and her team know how to make good showcases, I have no doubt this will be the best produced Xbox showcase yet, only thing left is not being shy to showcase what coming maybe even 2 years out. Combined with gameplay/cinematic trailers of already announced stuff + new reveals of games coming in the next 2-3 years, this has the makings of the best Xbox show to date.

I think most of these shows are planned way ahead of time, so they’re not going to try and fit something to 1 up them. However, the show being 3 weeks away from Sony will benefit Microsoft.

There are rumors ā€œvetted by Reseteraā€ starting to pop up

It’s the kind of big 3rd party game reveal I’m looking for at Xbox’s show so I hope it’s real. I don’t think I’m gonna put much faith in this particular rumor though.

Would make sense

Big enough to create excitement as just a reveal but also probably small enough to have the potential of a GP deal

Yes this is my favourite too. Coming right after the One X had reclaimed the power throne, and with that E3 they really brought new life into Xbox.

People started believing again.

This would be pretty big even though the game itself does nothing for me personally.

Agreed. This was the showcase where they started to get me back as an Xbox fan again. Forgot to mention, the show kicked off with Halo Infinite. I knew I was missing something. lol

I doubt that the entirety of id worked on the TAG expansions, they probably started working on their next game after DOOM Eternal launched. Also both DOOM games were teased at E3 and then had extended trailers/showings at QuakeCon so a teaser at the June showcase is a possibility, assuming they will show the game this year in the first place of course. Either way I can’t wait to see what they are cooking, DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal are both amazing games so I have high hopes for their next game plus can’t wait to see the next iteration of id tech.

About what I want to see the most from 1st party (besides id)…I’d say I am really curious to see Perfect Dark, Avowed and Gears 6. From 3rd parties (if I’d add multiplats in there) I’d love to see Uedas’s and Playdead’s next games. Besides the initial announcements (that Epic is funding and publishing) we haven’t heard from both of them for a while so maybe it’s time for a showing. Dragon’s Dogma 2 would be cool as well but I don’t see it happening.

What would make this rumour even better would be if the trailer started with the now famous announcer saying Ā« Exclusive Ā» and came along with a Ā« 12 months console exclusivity Ā» fine print at the end.

I have a feeling there will be some of those on the PlayStation showcase, only fair for MS to retaliate in some way, especially after all the trouble Sony has given them with the purchase of ABK.

As far as I know P3 Remake is like the most requested persona game in Japan so I’m guessing this would probably create a lot of salt online lol

But no matter, just having the reveal and association with Xbox is a win, especially for a Japanese franchise of this calibre!

I don’t think that would be day 1 GP, probably more like Yakuza where they added the backlog to GP and the newest game gets an Xbox marketing deal (no GP though). It could follow up an announcement of the Shin Megami Tensei games coming to GP since those ended up not being announced at the SMT concert, if Nick’s rumor about that is true.

And don’t forget Gears Pop. Seriously though, that game had a lot of potential, but was weighed down by super heavy mtx focus and a lack of more sp content. I got kicked out of a bunch of mp matches due to poor internet connection and would rejoin with the opposite player essentially having devestated my army. Ended up replaying the few training levels a bunch of times and would haveoved more of a campaign. I also think the availability on mobile and pc only might have hurt it a little, there’s no real reason it couldn’t have done console as well. It had a pretty fun gameplay loop and your army makeup decisions and timing absolutely would help you win or lose a fight.

The majority of the studio would have been on the DLCs while their next project was in very early pre-production. Development wouldn’t have kicked off fully until 2021 when the last DLC came out.

Seeing id’s game is possible, but there are other games that we should be getting updates on sooner (like Indiana Jones and probably ZOS’ game).

Eternal was announced at E3 and then shown at QuakeCon, but I think 2016 was shown at QuakeCon only to those attending (not broadcast) and then it was fully unveiled the following E3. Either could happen for id’s next game but I really think we’re still too early.

I’d love to be wrong though!

I think they need to keep some stuff for QuakeCon honestly, spread out those announcements and keep people talking about your games. Much better than blowing it all in 1 day.

Even better, add another XO event or developer direct end of year as well!

Updated to add a few games mentioned above.

I have been very conservative with Xbox shows predictions in the last 3 years but that ends this year, it’s time to go all out, personally I think Xbox needs a Sony 2016 E3 style show, it didn’t surprise me that we didn’t see much from the studios acquired in 2018 in the last few years but it just feels that that is coming to an end with this show.

We’re not gonna see everything they have in development sure but all of those games announced in 2020 and all of the studios that haven’t announced anything have to be there…
