If anything, it shows how amazing it was they were able to make Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim and Fallout 4 with such a relatively small team.
I find it especially interesting know that the team has increased that much in size. I like it.
Definitely. That’s how games were made back then sadly.
Small teams with a whole lot of crunch lol.
No, not really since most games don’t have that scale or amount of content.
I used to be impressed by that stuff, but these days I am more about show me the product.
I hope so as long as development on the game goes well. But if it is I doubt we would hear anything about it until the game is about to come out.
Scalebound is deaded than dead which is exactly what it should be. Hehehe.
Superhero games are basically a genre since they are huge and bring in a lot of comic book/superhero fans. And that’s a huge reason why WB Games is still around and hasn’t been sold off because if they weren’t huge and didn’t bring in revenue David Zaslav would have sold off WB games a long time ago.
3D platformers and family friendly content are also genres Microsoft could use more of but we will start to get more once Toys For Bob becomes an Xbox studio.
Killer Instinct 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet so Microsoft still has a need to cover the fighting genre. And Tango Gameworks taking a break from the horror genre is why it would be nice to see more publishing deals or studios that can cover that genre.
I’m not sure if Scalebound with PlatinumGames is happening but it would help cover the action JRPG genre.
But either way these are just genres Microsoft could cover more on. And I agree there are interesting times ahead
If they want to grow gamepass bigger than it already is then yes Microsoft should try to have first party games/studios that can cover every genre.
Does Microsoft need sports games or need to rival EA or Take Two? No. But there’s other ways Microsoft could do it such as remaking Kinect Sports for the Xbox controller or do something similar to Nintendo Switch Sports.
For puzzle games Microsoft hired Kim Swift the co-creator of Portal and the director of Quantum Conundrum so it would be great to see more puzzle games.
Tango is taking a break from horror games so that’s why I mentioned horror. Scorn will help but it’s a timed exclusive and not from a first party studio. And I don’t want Bethesda working on Marvel games either. I was mostly talking about WB Games or another studio could fill the gap for having their own superhero games.
And hopefully we will start to see more 3D platformers return once the ABK acquisition is complete.
I had no idea she was the co creator of Portal.
As much as I’d like that, but she’s been hired to lead as cloud gaming director in the XGS Publishing - Cloud division, not to make puzzle games.
Game Pass needs all kinds of genres but it doesn’t mean they have to own studios that make all kinds of genres.
Starfield on the quest 2 will be fun…i hope gamepass explodes! The more people in the more the investments needed.
True. But if she’s leading as the cloud gaming director that doesn’t mean she can’t also build a team or partner with a team that works on puzzle games.
Of course not but it would definitely help to have more games that fit those genres into gamepass.
Thats why I dont see problems in MS acquiring studios/publisher. They are the only one from the 3 that gives you this amount of options.
That’s crazy.
Forza Horizon 5 10th Anniversary Update is live,
Edit: False alarm! Looks like its just the download. Think this will go live on Thursday then.
They hired her to lead the cloud publishing initiative and work directly with Kojima, not to make puzzle games.
Was playing Sable yesterday and they have you entering these huge crashed spaceships here and there. It’s one of the cooler things in that game. And then I think of the stuff we might encounter in Starfield. A side quest where we need to find a missing person, maybe have us go into a spaceship wreck we well, maybe we’ll encounter those insect creatures in there.
Just can’t wait to just go do stuff in that game. Not necessarily even follow the storyline either, just explore, go some place and see what happens. That’s how Oblivion and Skyrim were for me too.
