The Coalition would still make it though, even if the multiplayer is a standalone game. Whether it’s standalone or not, it doesn’t really make a difference.
I do think the multiplayer could be free to play like Halo Infinite, but that wouldn’t make it a separate game.
That would be cool, maybe they could partner up with Paramount+ as well since they have partnerships with both could be a nice push for both into gaming market with esports live streams, that would hurt Twitch/Youtube massively.
Disagree. If they separate the campaign as a standalone game they can overhaul the foundations and reinvent the franchise without bothering the hardcore og fans who can still have their MP focused separate game with the same Gears foundations. Win-win.
Guys, questions about the Xbox Store. Do you know when it updates the “Top Paid Games” chart?
Does it do it continuously or there is a specific day where it refreshes everything?
I think MS should split all their games that come with MP and SP. Make all their MP games F2P and make the SP games bigger. Untie all these games so they don’t have to lean on eachother to be ready to launch, having Halo rely on 2 different parts of the game to be ready to come out is silly imo.
I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. Personally as a Gears fan, I want campaign and multiplayer (and Horde) to feel the same, like it’s one cohesive unit. Halo’s multiplayer is free and in many ways is entirely separate to campaign, but it still feels like one game and I think that’s still the best approach for Gears.
If TC feels differently, I’m open to them selling me on it though. I trust them.
Halo still manages to be cool in the mainstream even now but Gears is just a product of its time that’s not gonna be hugely popular again unless it reinvents itself. Do not conflate this as me saying it’s not a good or successful game still but it’s probably just successful “enough” and what we want for it should be much more than enough, to be a mainstream banger like it once was.
Im solely talking about the tournament and competition aspect. If you mean events as in updates for those games then by all means put it all in one event I guess.
Overlap in what? I don’t believe anybody is asking them to sit in the same room or something…The point is to consolidate everything into a single huge event akin Olympics.
I don’t necessarily disagree, but I also don’t think Gears needs to be a mainstream banger. It has its audience and like I said before, the deeply entrenched communities in Mexico and South America and elsewhere have incredible value to Xbox. Gears was big but it was never as big as Halo, and as long as TC is still passionate about it (which they clearly are) and keeps making great games, I think it’ll be fine.
People cite Gears 5’s tepid launch on Game Pass, but I think that was partly because GP was only a year or two old. By the time Gears 6 comes out, Game Pass will be even bigger than it is now and it will make a substantially bigger impact. Just look at FH4 vs FH5. Gears 5 still reviewed really well and I believe was the biggest launch in terms of player numbers for Gears.
Is there room for reinvention in the series? Of course, and TC are getting the longest development time yet for the series, so I’m sure they have things up their sleeve. But they also need to keep fans happy and decoupling singleplayer from multiplayer is not the way to do it in my opinion.
Probably don’t expect anything but just a rehash of everything from stuff like TGS/E3. I do love how they are attenting all these sort of events some small presence and some big, it all matters imo.
