Xbox Game Studios |OT9| How many games would a game studio make if a game studio could make games?

The nightmare scenario for me would be if it’s a MP only game. A studio solely known for horror joining Xbox was such an exciting prospect and then the next big thing is not horror, unfortunate but not the end of the world. But please no MP.

They will make whatever the game they want.

I know, just saying I really wouldn’t like it. But it really could be anything. Maybe it’s Master Chief Party. All Xbox mascots are in the game just like Mario Party, lol.

If this game started development before the MS acquisition I guess some sort of multiplayer component like Deathloop and Redfall might be in but I don’t think this will be a multiplayer only game. Some sort of co-op is what I think the most possible scenario, if it will be an action game for example it could have something like the co-op missions from Bayonetta 2 which was a separate mode.

About the horror thing it is unfortunate that we will not see TEW3 considering that the genre sees a revival lately…even Alan Wake 2 became survival horror and freakin’ Alone in the Dark came back from the dead. Oh well if the studio have other plans there is no point on forcing them to do something that they don’t want. Maybe sometime in the future they will revisit the genre/IP…I hope so because I loved both TEW1 & 2.

Ghostwire was already not horror.

What if it’s the best game ever made?

UE5 probably cost some time to switch to, and consequently due to the new features forced them to rethink and retouch some stuff and expand in areas they couldn’t on UE4. My theory is there is a delay because of this switch. I read the other day about a game that made the switch to UE5 mid development and that made them rethink and expand some stuff on top of the effort/time it took to port over, all for the better eventually, but I’m personally now thinking Avowed is not gonna make 2023.

Nanite and Lumen Stuff is expansive… They haven’t showed anything running at 60 yet… and we know foliage is still not workable with Lumen

This gen, not only the games but game engines are also delayed

It’s Lumen that’s rally expensive and hard to hit 60fps.

Almost like there was a global pandemic or something :phil_lmao:

Yeah, it’s why I think this generation is gonna be sooo damn long.

Imagine the whole drama around Avowed being rebooted or whatever it was a few months ago was just them moving to UE5 and it was just taking a bit longer to optimise for the new engine and maybe they wanted to add more features. How dumb would that be and is why I hate those sort of “leaks” or rumours.

Watch Fable come out before Avowed…

:phil_lmao:

Kidding.

If anything it’s sometime 2024 for Avowed and 2025 for Fable.

:pensive:

Ain’t no way i’m complaining seeing how packed 2023 already is and Starfield being a game that would take months of my time.

The good thing about about Avowed being switched to UE5 despite waiting longer is that it would be easier for a sequel since then Obsidian could reuse the in game assets and models that they are building right now and just improve upon it when they plan on a sequel.

Early 2024 for Avowed, Fall 2024 for Fable.
