Yeah, for the game itself not that relevant, it really only matters for the graphics first people and the scorecard keeping folks who don’t really care about the game that much just it’s contribution to the wars.
Yeah, I doubt these people even enjoy games tbh.
He really said this? What does AA scope even mean, like The Outer Worlds? Where did he say this?
Graphics for a RPG aren’t the end all be all, but they sure contribute to the overall experience. Just look at Witcher 3. Or Skyrim when it came out, looked great back then. Avowed is a game that has been long in the making, higher budget than they’ve ever had, I would expect more than AA scope for graphics and fidelity. Or well, I sure hope so.
Both Jez and Nate said it looked great, especially Nate said he was very happy with how it looked. He didn’t really go into detail though.
This 100%.
Just a little bit more transparency, well…more, there isn’t any, any transparency really would go a long way. Would have loved to have heard some bits of information on something like Fable now. Instead it’s been radio silence since 2020.
Microsoft allows companies to make the games they want. So if a company does not want a grand scale RPG with cutting edge graphics, Microsoft can’t force them. Third party publishers are more likely to do that, but Microsoft can fund games of various scopes depending on what their developers want.
We have to accept that not every Xbox studio will want to make game from some transmedia IP for example.
Here I am still hoping that the not gameplay segment(but sure as hell looks like) at the end of the trailer is not too good to be true. I mean that looks great, not impossibly great.
And those “leaks” by Sponger sure didn’t help either. Not sure if he really soke about graphics, but he made comparisons to Skyrim, being denser, bigger iirc, I don’t know, I guess you start to expect something special for the graphics too. But that’s the issue again, we have no idea, two years later, nothing but silence. Except for some insiders telling us this and that. Sigh.
Still no confirmation that Jez actually said that.
Let’s say they do talk about things like that. Then as time goes on, they had to cut features they talked about. How would fans feel then? Everyone wants information but think about what the dev teams are worried about too.
You should expect the graphics side of things to be much improved relative to Obsidian’s recent output but it won’t necessarily be like the top tier of AAA graphics or something like that. I mean The Outer Worlds actually looked pretty good but with some visible signs of budget/time limitations that shouldn’t be there anymore, Avowed wouldn’t have many of the those limitations and it should be a great presentation overall, and I have to mention it’s almost impossible what Jez saw would resemble the final product or even a presentable vertical slice anyway.
Part of game dev . We understand that . There will be some haters sure but haters gonna hate no matter what .
What EA is doing with Skate and Dead Space is really cool and I applaud them for it .
You do. Most won’t. Look what happened to Star Field. They only did a few months delayed. People talked like the game was canceled. Peter Molyneux is considered a buffoon now because of his broken promises. Is just not easy as everyone is making it out to be. There are always two sides to every story.
idk what delaying a game has anything to do with transparency .
I would argue that the biggest vocal chunk of the people don’t understand that so…
It’s a perfect example. They tried to be transparent, and it blew up in their face.
what are saying dude . What was the alternative here ? Not announcing that they are delaying the game ? Im talking about not keeping projects secret and transparency during early days of game dev . Like what Ninja Theory does . They dont need to show game mechanics if they dont want to . Talk about the people making the game , scope of the game they are trying to achieve , character art etc .
I absolutely don’t expect the best visuals ever, but something truly “worthy” of Xbox Series should be doable. I do wonder when Jez allegedly has said this.
The recent Xbox Two podcast. Basically said it’ll be more like the Outer Worlds then Skyrim in terms of the scope and scale, etc etc.
I don’t think Jez ever mentioned Avowed being AA. Jez did mention that the size of the Avowed team is smaller than some other AAA titles, so people should set their expectations accordingly and don’t expect something like Starfield.
It should also be mentioned he was speculating, since he hasn’t seen any new footage after the footage he saw last year.
Yes, all of this.
Well, that’s nothing new and he never talked about the visuals at all. Either way, Obsidian have never tried to be a graphical powerhouse studio.
Which was his point, he was replying to people in the live chat.
