So I’m now realizing how big Overwatch 2 would be for Game Pass. It’s probably the biggest next only to CoD. I know the PvP is a free update to owners but the story PvE component is only for OW2 owners and that component can be really big.
Honestly the ABK acquisition will benefit Game Pass greatly right out of the gate even without any exclusive content. CoD library, possibly the newest CoD, Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, Spyro and Crash collection of games, possibly Sekiro. Damn.
I think there’s a decent chance they announce it (or at least explain what the future will be for campaigns) at the showcase, but a release this year is unlikely.
2023 is a lock, I don’t think anyone doubts that but this stuff about it potentially being november is what’s putting a even bigger downer on it. I really don’t even want to think about it. We went from “it’s pretty much written in ink” for 11-11-22, to delayed to first half 2023, that’s bad enough as it is. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.
its not a big deal to me anymore, it’s already established that this will be an underwhelming year on the exclusivity front.
I’m just gonna buy Modern Warfare and Hogwarts Legacy to hold me over this holiday, I’d rather have two better games from Xbox Game Studios than mid-titles with tons of bugs.
MW2 i can absolutely see it releasing this year, Hogwarts Legacy is a huge question mark right now. All they said was holiday 2022, right? I have learned my lesson with Starfield now and release dates. It’s a fact when you see it available in the Xbox store for purchase.
Id put money on Starfield being november of next year. The blowback would have been worse if they delayed it to first half to give us hope. Once march goes around people are gonna start asking questions then we are going to get the delay. It will come out november and it will be a 10/10 new standard for Wrpg game
no its gonna be like redfall where they announced it for summer then summer was fast approaching and nothing then they were like we need more time like next may or june but its only going to be a few more months . by that point I feel redfall will be out and anoth xbox game like lets say avowed mite be out so we will be like ok we can wait we already have great games. I dont thnk the blowback will be that bad but if they delayed it till november of 2023 now oh man it would be bad. This is just my guess
It’s not exactly about the quality per se, it’s the content and the fact that the game feels too samey. Essentially the game didn’t change much for a “suquel” but that’s the thing, it was never meant to be a sequel, it’s not really even still since everything’s gonna a free update for Overwatch owners except the PvE. Blizzard don’t like sequels, Activision “Bobby” wanted a sequel and the OW team were forced to do so, that’s why the whole thing feels confusing. Saying just get Game Pass and you’ll get everything will be a great get for GP.
It sounds like Activision is going to be under game pass like how EA is under game pass, except we’re getting releases day one. Nothing under Activision is going to be exclusive and they will still act as their own company with their own PR and stuff. Microsoft will manage them from the top.
Nothing from ACTI/Blizzard is gonna be exclusive, its a way to fill up game pass and attempt to sway the casual call of duty audience to xbox.
