I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that you don’t know who is playing what where.
Out of the 15 games that Microsoft can bring back, I agree with and want -
- The Evil Within 3
- Starcraft Ghost
- Wolfenstein III
No interest in the other 12 games.
Dont have any predictions for FH5 expansions but I hope whatever it is, they go as wild as possible with it
While most disagree, I agree with you. It doesn’t matter if it’s under the Bethesda label or Xbox Game Studios, at the end of the day, it’s Microsoft that pays to publish, fund, market and advertise the games. In other words, it’s Microsoft. People don’t understand that the Xbox Game Studios is just a label to unify all the studios under one banner.
Just because someone does not understand something does not mean they are right
This is like saying brands do not exist. Flip this around, you would be saying that Sony pays to publish, fund, market and advertise games, Playstation is just a banner to unify all the studios under one banner.
Was glad someone said it. This whole argument is pretty asinine to suggest that because a few people on the planet don’t associate Xbox published and developed titles on PC with Xbox because “reasons”, despite the fact that many of those games are accessible only from the Xbox App, due in part, to its inherent binding to Game Pass is just… arguably nonsensical. At the most fundamental, this “discussion” that stemmed a few days ago should have been logically nipped in the bud because these games, regardless of what someone may think, are Xbox games: they are developed and published by Xbox, and Xbox isn’t just the console that sits under your TV and hasn’t been since arguably 2017 when Xbox proper built the consoles, cloud, and PC to be an ecosystem of devices to access content.
So, presuming timing is the same, E3 is just under 2 months away for MS. However, I have fun predictions for the show if it’s one together. Here are my predictions, including one crazy one that I have the weirdest of gut feelings that is likely 99% wrong. And as always, this is fucking fanfiction. I’m a guy typing on a laptop listening to the goddamn Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack. Devs and marketing have to collab to get all this done. I think E3 will be amazing no matter what happens.
Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase: June (Hypothetical)
- Open with a countdown that is supposedly 10 seconds but takes 30.
- Hard cut into a trailer for Project Midnight from Compulsion to start off the event. Mix of CG and Gameplay.
- Follow this up with Sarah Bond introducing the next game. It’s Forza Motorsport!
- Gameplay demo for Forza Motorsport, with an October release.
- Immediately after, reveal for Belfry. December release.
- Follow this up with As Dusk Falls. July release.
- Now, it’s time for some third parties.
- ABK shows up with Diablo IV Footage. Game Pass not mentioned… yet.
- Brief mention of ABK intent to purchase.
- Next, a look at a big third party. Not Day One Game Pass. Think something like the Avatar game from Ubisoft.
- Saints Row is then shown off briefly as a Day One Game Pass title.
- A collection of shorter looks at upcoming games from third parties and Indies. Think trailers of 1-2 mins max. I’m talking Plague Tale Requiem, Somerville, Replaced, Scorn, Ark 2, etc.
- Next, Pete Hines walks out on the stage. It’s time for Bethesda’s corner.
- Redfall is shown off in a 6-minute demo. October release, in time for Halloween.
- Updates to ESO and Fallout 76.
- Deathloop: Deathinitive Edition dated for September.
- Bonus offer: Free digital copy of Deathloop for people who purchase Redfall.
- ZOS gives a look at their new game. It’s not an MMO but rather a shared world competitive PVPVE shooter. Think Hunt Showdown meets Destiny. Xbox exclusive.
- Project Wyrmwood announced. It’s an Elder Scrolls Real-Time Tactics Game. PC release in Spring 2023, Xbox Fall 2023.
- Starfield is conspicuously absent.
- Back to Xbox first-party now.
- Obsidian time!
- Like in 2020, Obsidian has a section to themselves. We see looks at Avowed (Spring 2023), Pentiment (August 2022) and Grounded (1.0 shadowdropped). Outer Worlds 2 has a cheeky bullshit trailer that ends up foreshadowing another reveal (Think “We’re happy to be at E3 but have nothing to show. Not the best choice, definitely Spacer’s Choice”)
- Contraband gameplay
- Updates to ongoing GAAS now. FH5 first expansion announced. Halo season 2 and 3 footage. Brief teaser for The Endless (set for release in 2023). SoT One Piece Monkey Island expansion.
- Project Suerte reveal. 2024 release
- Fable in-engine teaser.
- Screen goes black. We wait a few seconds.
- PLEASE WELCOME TO THE STAGE. TODD HOWARD!!!
- Starfield deep-dive time. 10 minutes. Shorter than normal, but still great. We’ll see more at Quakecon. Still November 11th.
- Todd and Phil come out on stage. Before we go, we have one last thing.
- Voice-over from Anthony Hopkins. Discussion of a great war devastating the nation and the one hero destined to save the nation… or destroy it. Title drop. The Elder Scrolls VI: Hammerfell. Xbox Exclusive. 202? release.
Regardless of how wrong this may or may not be, I like reading this kind of stuff, its fun! thanks for writing this out, I mean it
Please please please please PLEASEEEEEE please PlEaSE pleeeeaassseeee tell me you have seen the future!!
Great stuff, wonderful post, I really enjoyed reading through it. Would love the Project Wyrmwood announcement and we’re totally on the same page about Saints Row for gamepass!
Pentiment is Sawyers project?
Belfry I think is from Stoic, and Wyrmwood whose that?
Correct for both.
Project Wyrmwood/Wormwood is a real time tactics game from Bethesda according to one of Nick’s sources. I think it’s Elder Scrolls based on the name.
I think Wyrmwood maybe one of InXiles games. ES spin off is a great shout, I’m going with a new Fallout Tactics game.
On the Nvidia leak it mentions Project Mara is for *2022-09-30 Project Mara. So we could see it for E3 as well.
Sony IS the publisher. If Microsoft/Sony didn’t exist, would Xbox Game Studios/PlayStation Studios exist? Nope.
It’s like when someone reviews an Xbox or PlayStation first party game and they say “review copy provided by Xbox/PlayStation”. Uhhh, I didn’t know the console could actually give out review codes. The review copy is provided by Microsoft/Sony.
Microsoft IS the publisher and I don’t care what gimmick/banner/label they put it under. I can’t believe that anyone here thinks that something that technically isn’t real, has no money or people behind it actually publishes the games when all of that comes from the $2 trillion dollar company known as Microsoft.
I hope there are some more fun surprises from Bethesda like Fallout Shelter was. Don’t need to be some massive thing, but was just something a lot of fun to play and complete surprise.
Saying it over and over again here doesn’t change the fact that the registered publisher is Xbox Game Studios. I’m not going to argue on this over and over again, the argument is disingenuous at best.
And who exactly registered Xbox Game Studios? Who trademarked it? It’s MICROSOFT. Come on. SMH.
Let’s please stop arguing over the semantics of the publishing brand. That’s not what this thread was intended for.
