Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

Man that studio is comprised of ex Dead Space devs. A horror IP from them. Lets go

Lol, I don’t think there is even the slimmest chances of this being true.

Some of you forget that Microsoft has no influence at the moment and COD is up there with the most selling games every year.

Its not the MS way to have so many AAA devs on one IP. I think going forward, IW become the sole COD studio.

Bobby’s in full “Fuck it, I’m out” mode.

He should have written “my” with caps :joy:

Fwiw, this should provide some insight to the CoD multiplat choice. This means PS5 will have CoD through to 2024 due to commitments and presuming the new schedule keeps, we wouldn’t see an exclusive CoD until 2026, 1 year before the end of the gen. Generation is decided by then, why rock the boat with regulators? Start the pivot for the support studios.

I am curious if ATVI planned to delay the game before Microsoft acqusition or they decided to go with this (after silent approval of Microsoft) right now.

I suspect the latter given the lack of profit motive by then.

The real question mark is contractual obligations.

Sony has marketing rights to 2023 for CoD, which would have CoD 2024 as the first title until Xbox’s control.

So if 2023 gets pushed to 2024, but 2023 is made up of MW2 and Warzone 2 stuff, couldn’t that count as part of the marketing commitment, allow CoD 2023 which is now 2024 to be the first under Microsoft’s marketing/GamePass?

Bobby literally be doing this right now:

I suspect that the contractual obligations are for the amount games.

My guess is on a per title basis instead of years. But it wouldn’t shock me if removing a Game Pass clause if one exists could be part of the deal to continue CoD through the gen.

didnt schrieder say marketing for next 3 cod games, so MW2, WZ2, and cod 2024 now

Yes.

Yeah, I also think that way. Also consdiring the rumblings regarding bi-annual COD, the last COD game that will be delivered to Sony due to contractual obligations will be in 2025.

Yeah I think with the delay and the acquistion, Microsoft goes back to the table with Sony and removes whatever GamePass prevention clause their is in exchange for CoD throughout the generation.

Because otherwise, if it’s for a set number of games, CoD might not be Day 1 on GamePass until 2026.

Last COD had declining sales numbers, could be a move to enhance/assure the quality and strength the franchise again.

Activision must act in the best interest of the company until the merger is complete.

Last COD had declining numbers because it had WW2 setting in alternative universe. People did not like (though it sold a tons naturally).

Microsoft has to go back to the table now with a contract because no way does Microsoft wait until 2026 for Day 1 on GamePass for new CoDs.

That is true as well, although I do think this news may have eased their minds a bit to do this, even if it’s just subconsciously
