Xbox Game Studios |OT8| Leaving The Drought Behind And Heading For Starfield

I mean sure lol. I’m not a fan of COD either but it’s also still the highest selling game of the year even on a decline.

Has Chad Warden made a comment on the recent news yet

Yeah, I actually am on team every other year. I’m fine with CoD coming out extremely often and even ok with it taking 3 studios as long as that’s what they want, but at least give me a decent fucking game. There’s just simply no reason after the acquisition goes through for CoD to remain a bug laden shit show with abysmal monetization.

It worked well back in 360 era. Last gen, not so much despite making good money. Here’s hoping with Xbox, they will go back to those golden age.

I have high hopes. I think some great things will come out of this acquisition, or at least they should.

I don’t think MS Paid 70B so they could release one cod game in whole gen.

Taking away sledge hammer and tryarch from cod, would slow down cod production.

Making it every two years would be better, it would also work for gp two years of support for every cod.

Ok I think I’m done finally.

I made some calls on what to put/not to put:

Example - Vicarious is still technically alive so I added them As much as I wanted Radical in, they’ve been closed for years I didn’t put in demonware because they don’t make games

CoD is just too big to not maintain a similar release cadence. Could see maybe 3 games every 4 years of something like that.

I think the main question is what can MS do with Blizzard. If they can get them back to releasing regular top tier games then thats a huge win. Also what can they do within the realms of the Blizzard I.P. with all the studios available.

Blizzard is honestly going to be a massive undertaking and something that Microsoft has not done since their acquisition spree: Changing the culture at a company. Microsoft cannot be all hands off with this purchase, at least initially.

Absolutely and they have to address the talent drain probably with a massive hiring push. Come make Blizzard great again sort of thing.

Start by bringing back Jeff Kaplan.

Ok a hulk game made by the people who did prototype. It’d be perfect marketing.

I think that was due to the WW2 setting more than anything

If they only do 1 cod game it’ll be because they transform it into a platform like Minecraft and fortnite. I doubt that’ll happen right away though. They’ll keep pumping out games imo.

Vicarious being alive still is huge. With them, Toys for Bob and Beenox they have a trio of studios that can pump out family friendly content.

CoD every 2 years should be the play

Gives the devs a much needed break and far less crunch, more time to actually develop something innovative, makes the series feel far less repetitive and stale and most of all, would likely free up other studios to make other games instead of just pumping out CoD

1 CoD every 3 years isnt neccessary when they have 3 dedicated teams for CoD, not to mention CoD is wayyy too big a franchise to think they’d even consider pumping only 1 out every 3 years

What if we merge prototype and crackdown into one ip call it proto cracks down

Been trying to catch up on the thread. Haven’t paid attention to any games media since Halo launched……I have played like 110 hours of Halo multiplayer :grimacing:. Anyway, do you think Vicarious Visions will be allowed to break away from Blizzard if that’s what they want? I’d also be curious to know what the dev team count is now. I know it’s like 32ish studios but how many teams making individual games would be interesting to know.

I imagine a lot of the CoD support teams will spend a lot of their free time this next year coming up with pitches for what their next games could be. I think CoD should just turn into Infinity Ward and Treyarch and let them release every two years giving each dev 4 years of dev time. Sledgehammer can do what they want. Although that might be Call of Duty. It’s easy to forget because forums like these disregard CoD in a lot of ways but if you filled out an application to work at IW, Sledgehammer or Treyarch chances are you wanted to work on CoD in some capacity. The other studios probably not so much.

I still can’t get over the fact we can start talking about COD in the first party thread.

That and perhaps the image as well. It was plastered so many times in the news, some parents probably thought not to get it for a gift and some probably find it disgusting. Clear the air for a bit as well as reintroducing a more “interesting” CoD that is Modern Warfare would probably fix the problem.

Good thing is we dont need to worry about E3 anymore. Xbox has enough content to fill multiple days on their own now
