MrMattyPlays is reporting he has heard from an “unusual source” that Redfall might be delayed “into the holiday”. Take this with a massive grain of salt as while Matty has been right many times, it was with different sources. He also notes that the STALKER 2 delay note hints at many showcases, so that is cool at least.

I don’t think 2022 will be as wild as people think. I really don’t think GOW, BOTW2, Suicide Squad or AC Next release this holiday. I won’t be surprised if COD is delayed this year either. They threw all the resources they could muster at COD last year, which undoubtedly impacted this year.

Xbox 2022 needs to be flawless, because this year PS will fire back heavily after a light end 2021 (and they are the direct competitor, so yes, it matters). Beginning with Stalker 2 long delay is not that great, but that’s 3rd party and also indie, but 1st party studios won’t have the same leniency from general public. I’d avoid a situation where Xbox would put all its eggs in the Starfield basket.

so aside of IOI the only indie big studios left are KojiPro and Crytek that don’t have contract or busy with other company ?

I was thinking MS should push to fund games by big independent studios, MS should fund Crysis 4 for example, more deals with KojiPro…etc

I don’t know what I expect “flawless” from anyone during a pandemic. I hope they give the games the time that they need, whenever that means they come out.

Luckily for Xbox, the supply shortage will continue through 2022 so any softness in first party is not likely to b impact console sales.

yeah i don’t think xbox can do much this year until holiday.

It means H2 too cannot be light, otherwise it could become a 2017-2018 slaughter or at minimum putting to much pressure on Starfield alone, so Redfall and at least a couple XGS games should be released alongside it. Sony is also strong with 3rd party exclusives to patch its holes, a feat Xbox keeps lacking honestly. I don’t mean console sales ultimately, I mean for brand: 2021 was a great year for Xbox in the eyes of general public since a long time, they need to prove consistency and that was not a one-off.
