Gotcha beat. Rare hasn’t given me a game of interest since Conker’s Bad Fur Day on N64 and that was 20 years ago. Once I saw Sea of Thieves get revealed, I accepted the fact that the chances of giving me a game that I actually want to play are slim to none. Thankfully, Microsoft has over 20 studios so me not caring about a few of them is no biggie since the studios I do care about will make up for it.
Everyone’s tastes vary, but I do feel a little worried by seeing so many posts of “this just isn’t the kind of game I’m interested in” floating around this forum.
Sure, gaming’s a hobby and we all have limited time on this planet, but there’s something to be said for trying something new. You might be surprised and find you really like it, even though you thought you wouldn’t! Be open-minded! Be adaptable!
edit - maybe “worry” wasn’t the best choice of words. My bad. I’m more just disappointed, if anything…but that probably sounds worse?!? Oh well. As I often say, I’m just an idiot on the Internet…like the rest of you!
I guess people aren’t ready to explore genres. PS had it down last gen that all people can think is third person and cinematic. Platform, meh, let indies do one. Racing, it’s car, not human. WRPG? More like weak RPG. Shooters? The ones that get spin-offs from Fortnite? Eh, whatever. The list goes on…
Wouldn’t let it worry you, there are a couple if people with really specific tastes and they are going to play what they are going to play (even if you think something might fit their tastes). We’ve been down that rabbit hole lol.
Turn10 were hinting at the release year all this time! /s
On a serious note I wouldn’t be shocked if it did slip to 2023 because I’m sure Turn10 most likely helped with FH5 AND Halo Infinite.
Why would you be worried when seeing posts that say “this game isn’t for me”? Not every game is going to appeal or be of interest to everyone.
Nothing wrong with trying something new but at the same time, it also depends on the game itself and what it is. So for example, Sea of Thieves is an online co-op/PvP game so that’s strike one for me. Second strike is that there’s no solo story campaign (ala Division 1 & 2) and third strike is that it’s first person (I prefer third person, always have and always will) and because of the perspective, the combat is lacking to say the least. Thing is that there’s not much reason to try a game that already has multiple strikes/negatives against it going in because it’s only going to be a waste of time that could be better spent on a game that you do want to play because it fits what you want and prefer.
So basically no reason to be worried when people including myself say that a certain game isn’t for them because there’s way more games that are for them and for me personally so not being interested in certain games here and there isn’t a big deal whatsoever especially when there’s thousands of games out there.
Possible, but I believe there are signs that this game has a strong chance to release next year with them coming in front to speak out on the game rather than insiders and preparing to drop details really soon. Sounds like they’re close to the finish line.
Yeah, but you should play…
No interest. Have researched and watched walk-throughs multiple times and every time, just no. Amazing game but just doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t like the art style or character models and the mental health aspects aren’t my thing with the exception of Hellblade 2.
The mental health stuff really just helps in the creation of awesome and diverse levels. It sounds like the art style enough was enough for you to not even give the game a try, which is unfortunate.
It is what it is. No biggie. I know it’s a great game and wouldn’t dispute that. Just not for me but for those it appeals to, hope they all enjoyed it.
Think one of the XGP games we see announced is a project from Eidos Montreal. Specifically the studio that made Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Just got someone Gamepass for Christmas who didn’t even know what it is. I recommended Forza Horizon 5.
FYI
This is more of a conservative estimation. Actually number is always more then this.
I wonder if there was a boost on Christmas Day. Too late to backtrack. Oh well. Impressive numbers.
I have no idea how to gauge the Series S.
So around the 23rd I had to go to a few stores to finish up shopping. I saw a Target overflowing with Series S consoles, I saw 1 or 2 in a Walmart, and 3 or 4 in a Best Buy.
I went back yesterday, the Best Buy was sold out, the Walmart was maybe sold out, but didn’t go into the Target yet.
So maybe everyone is getting them after the holidays? Maybe Target shoppers didn’t want the Series S? Maybe they sold out on the 24th?
Granted this was the boonies, but still…
I have no idea how to gauge my “How is Series S selling” with real world experience.
Well
it’s selling well as @Proven said becuase their die is a little smaller than the Series X die so it is a little easier to make and @welfare_queen on twitter because they follow xbox drops and estimate how much and what has been selling and on installbase Series S has been selling well as they have seen.
It was so weird just seeing a few stores have a Series S in person just sitting there for what seemed like days and then they were just gone.
Granted like I said, these stores were in the boonies.
