“Wake up, take a sh*t, start discussion on contentious topic on Era” is basically the morning routine here.
For the umpteenth time – I am not suggesting that they launch the game without controls mapped to controller. I am suggesting that this not being an ideal replacement to keyboard and mouse is not a good reason not to launch when the console supports keyboard and mouse.
And you could say the exact same about any accessory game – that people could buy Guitar Hero digitally and then be stuck playing it with shit controller controls. There is only so much you can do to legislate against stupidity.
MS could even go the extra mile and have a pop-up on purchase rather than just put the recommendation in the text.
But the point is it would be a recommendation, the game would still have controls mapped to controller.
Literally tried Stellaris some months ago and Riftbreaker just yesterday. Im 100% the PC experience is miles better but these seemingly smaller companies have made console versions of pc games work. Its wild to expect that of xbox at launch for its games?
Thankfully not. I personally don’t believe that they should have done cross-gen at all because they have Cloud streaming which I always thought was going to be the plan before they announced that they would support cross-gen for a year or two.
No, I think the point of arguing is launching the game day 1 on console and pc + some people act as the games are gonna be the same across the platforms.
Cloud Streaming on xbox not viable enough yet to replace native so far. God I wish Stadia Tech was on xbox lol.
Then LAUNCH 2 VERSIONS just like the Football Manager team at Sega does. How can a third party publisher afford that and a first party endeavor cant?
Can somebody explain this to me?
And looking at comparison between XCloud and Xbox One, XCloud is superior and a viable alternative for a lot of regions.
I think we’re talking about two different things then, I thought you were saying they should only launch the game with KB/M support with zero controller support which I think would never happen. Using a controller on any sort of RTS game will always be worse and there is no way around that but you can play RTS games completely fine on console. Halo Wars 2 works amazing on console and was one of my favourite games last gen and didn’t have any issues with using a controller. Now playing it on KB/M would be even better but it was ok with controller.
My stance is Xbox will never release a game with a requirement that someone buy a KB/M to play the game on Xbox and would not work on a controller at all.
I don’t think Halo Wars 2 is a great comparison because it is one that was always designed with consoles in mind. It’s like a console-ized version of an RTS.
Because third party publisher has been releasing the game / same type of games for years already?
Anyway, I wonder if AoE console release will also go to XCloud (I presume UI is gonna be similar for both platforms).
Yes, we’re talking at cross purposes, I wasn’t saying that.
My position is disagreement with Adam Isgreen when he said they wouldn’t bring the game to console unless they cracked how to make the RTS experience equal to KB/M on controller.
This is bollocks.
Make it as good as you can on a controller – it will never be equal because the genre is meant for KB/M – and then put a recommendation ‘best enjoyed with KB/M’ prominently in the store. Simple.
That’s all I’m saying.
A game genre not playing as well on controller as it does on KB/M is a shit excuse for not making a console version when your console supports KB/M anyway.
When are inXile releasing Frostpoint VR for Xbox? I dont have a VR headset but I really want to play the game, so when are they going to release it, anyone know?
Xbox doesn’t support VR as of right now so never.
I agree that it’s not viable enough yet but if you have an old 2103 base Xbox One, I can’t imagine there being much difference. Watched the comparison video from El Anista (I forget the guy’s user name on youtube) and while it didn’t look amazing, for 1080p streaming, it looked good enough and ran at 60fps the entire time. I don’t remember seeing a single drop in his 10 minute video for Cloud.
Agreed. See above.
Pardon me if this has been covered here, but I’ve been looking into the Skyrim Anniversary Edition which is due out in a few weeks.
Apparently it will not be included in Game Pass? The next-gen upgrades are free, as are a few choice Creation Club expansions, but the majority of the new content is locked behind a paywall, it seems.
Feels like a bad look to me. Xbox and Game Pass have a fickle history with how they’ve handled DLC - it’s included for some games, like State of Decay 2 (mostly thanks to the free updates over time) and Gears 5: Hivebusters (for GPU users), but others like Forza Horizon and Minecraft Dungeons don’t include it. I really wish there was better and more clear messaging about this across the board from Xbox.
Which is what I think they need to do for “Age of Empires IV: Xbox Edition”
Oh no, you took his bait…
Where did you get that from?
First sentence of second paragraph of that article:
“The new release is to mark the 10th anniversary of the game and will be available to purchase for owners of Skyrim: Special Edition or Xbox Game Pass subscribers as part of a special upgrade version (it’ll also be sold separately).”
Yeah, that says you have to buy the upgrade…
