after so many gears games its hard to bring something in the same universe that would seem fresh, if they change the story and the gameplay mechanics too much then people will complain that its not gears of war anymore , if they let it stay the same people complain that its always the same game , no matter what they do people will complain
MORE satellite studios! I could see zenimax online expanding a lot in order to work as additional support for other bethesda studios in addition to working on their projects. Theyve already assisted on doom 2016 and FO76
In my view the recent content (Gears 5 and Hivebusters) shows that the Coalition are stating to find their own identity with the series and have a lot of ideas to revitalise it. Would be a weird time to end the series just when it looked like the Coalition were starting to get revved up on it.
I do want to see the Coalition make something else too, but they are anyway. Any they continue to grow and are no doubt aiming to reach capacity to the a true two AAA game studio before long.
The varied locations made Hivebusters stand out for me, it’s like so visually impressive. Maybe Gears 6 could play around with varied environments more like swamps, underground caves, an underwater Cog facility?, … etc
Yeah it was a beautiful bit of content. What really dropped my jaw was the lighting shadow quality throughout, really made the world feel real.
Honestly, I liked Gears 5 a lot, but I had more fun in Hive Buster packed into an ultra-compact package than I did with the whole of 5.
Kind of made me think Gears going into an episodic format, with Hive Busters-sized episodes dropping at least once a year, could be a cool direction. Like a TV show rather than a movie.
Sounds great. The series needs more variety after so many entries. They should get ambitious with locations for Gears 6, and post Gears 6 when this story is done they can really go back to the drawing board for what comes next and not have to be limited by the old visual style. Hivebusters suggests what the team can be capable of.
There’s been different rumors surrounding Coalition. Contradicting stuff. We do know they had an incubation team experimenting for a few years. We see they’re hiring. I wonder if some of these rumors are educated guesses based on that info.
I’d be fine with that if they wanted to do that. That would also allow them to get on with other projects if they so chose. I want to see what graphical and gameplay standards Coalition can reach on their own IP as well as Gears once they are fully experienced with UE5.
