Back to the damn camera argument.
Next up:
Gears 6!
Hey, FWIW, Grounded has a 3rd person mode.
Hey, some people have a thing for shoulder blades
Crackdown 4?
Not really, it’s just everyone telling Chucke that his “facts” aren’t actually fact.
Personally I can’t wait to play all the RPGs coming, I love first person, I love third person. First person because it’s more immersive I guess, it’s my preferred way to play in BGS games even if the third person camera has been improved with every game.
I love third person because I see my character, I see the gear I’m wearing, I see the animations of the character and cool fighting moves. This is great in JRPGs and games like Witcher 3. I was so disappointed when I learned Cyberpunk was not going to be third person. Ever since they announced it I had been picturing this amazing sci-fi city and walking around in it, in third person. I had automatically assumed since W3 is third person, this had to be too.
I definitely understand the wish by people that they would like to see some more third person RPGs. Right now we have Fable, we have Starfield and TES VI coming up and I am willing to bet the third person camera has greatly improved in the two BGS games over Fallout 4. Who knows, maybe in the future these studios will go for a third person RPG. Does ToW have a optional third person view? Because who knows, maybe Avowed will have one.
Maybe Xbox acquire a JRPG studio. Problem pretty much solved.
I do have something for Gears overall but Not gonna bother. My sentiment on the series is well known.
There’s no reason to doubt Xbox will deliver on the third person games front.
They have more pressing priorities though, like their need to seriously invest in E-rated games.
As exciting as games like Project Dragon and Contraband sound, I’m hoping that’s what the vast majority of XGS Publishing contracts will be about: investing in the kinds of games that can change the perception of Xbox to inclusive and family-friendly.
(Acquiring CC2, JP Games and Mistwalker for relatively cheap would be a nice way to address the lack of Japanese exclusives. I would in particular appreciate it if they found a home for Phantom Dust at the earliest opportunity - perhaps with Ninja Theory? Or A44 if they’re insisting on keeping the budget low?)
That’s precisely why people talk so much about it, they’re afraid that Xbox will deliver “greatness” and they’ll have to choose another plastic box to play games.
I guess I just don’t see the point in paying attention to those people when there are so many exciting Xbox topics to talk about.
The critics should not tempt the fates. Last time Xbox “didn’t have enough single player games” they bought Bethesda…if I were to criticise MS, I would keep the “lack of jrpgs/third person” comments to a minimum. Phil is listening…Ubisoft and Take Two could disappear into his infinity gauntlet overnight.
AAA Cowboy Bebop/Outlaw Star ARPG by Initiative + Tango
The discussion of how far along Turn 10 is when it comes to Forza Motorsport came up in another thread (The Initiative partnering with CD) and I responded there but it’s completely off topic so I’ll post it here as it’s more relevant. And I figure people will be interested in what Turn10 js up to.
No think of it as a CG trailer but instead they used realtime assets. I don’t think we heard any car sound effects in that. We probably didn’t see any real-time physics at play. It’s just a corner of a section with some assets placed in there and some lighting. That’s my guess.
I want to try to find the GDC talk for you because you’ll see how they progress on their graphics and they cover their production pipeline… Watch for an edit here with the link…
What I like is that they cover a lot of the mistakes they’ve made from 1 to 7 did a lot of people pointed out over the last many years (stuff that games like Driveclub and Gran Turismo have done so well), so give me a lot of hope in terms of the next one looking pretty realistic.
Thanks for the link, will check it out tonight
I wonder if The Coalition’s small project is something they intend to go back to once they do Gears 6.
It would be kind of cool IMO if they did a MGS: GZ kind of thing that they build into a bigger game after G6. I also wonder if they intend to stick with the co-op/team style gameplay

I wonder if rare has a third team that could possibly be working on Banjo-Kazooie or a new ip.
I mean we all expect it, because only the Kinect game was first person, but fable was confirmed? I don’t recall them ever saying it.
It would be very odd if they were taking a primarily third-person franchise and rebooting it with a first-person perspective. Why would they do that?
Why did I immediately read that as saying “Tesco” (Supermarket company or whatever you want to call them)
“We are excited to announce that Tesco is joining team Xbox!”
