Xbox Game Studios |OT6| But wait, there's MORE....studios

We are possibly going 15 years without Elder Scrolls …

Also Fallout is one of my top 3-5 franchises before anybody thinks Im being a hater for it lol. I just dont SEE the need for one now even tho Id love one.

If they really are planning on holding off on the franchise for a while and letting 76 do it’s thing similar to ESO (although personally im not sure that will be enough 3/4 years down the line unless they are planning on pumping 76 with huge amounts of content) then making FO5 a launch title for the next xbox would be huge

What I think will happen. Imagine kicking off a generation with Fallout 5 :joy: insanity

Granted I think they need to properly enhance F76 with X|S versions to begin with.

For me it’s not really a case of them needing it and more “we have this absurdly massive franchise, are we really just gonna let it sleep because we have other things?”

Maybe the biggest launch game ever?

I mean Fable been out for a decade, TES6 is gonna be like 15 years from Skyrim and such. It sucks but its not unusual.

Could be up there with BOTW Id reckon

That is true, I just wonder will MS look at it differently, especially now with gamepass being the play

Oh yea, I forgot about BOTW, only thing that comes close id imagine

Fallout 5 launching the Series X-2 at 8K240fps with ray tracing …

FO76 is also running on the old Fallout 4 engine. It’s sometimes beautiful but it’s really starting to show its age (graphics, animations, characters etc.). Especially with Starfield and the Creation Engine 2 right around the corner.

If I was in charge I would create a new studio within Bethesda solely dedicated to the Fallout franchise. It could be built around the Austin F76 team or just incorporate them.

Anyway I think once Starfield is out that the turnaround in games from BGS will be shorter than we expect.

Would they get a Bethesda Game Studios Maryland-quality game by just starting a new studio?

I mean they have several subsidiaries already.

Most of the work on Fallout 76 (on paper a Bethesda Game Studios Maryland game) is believed to have been done by some combination or collaboration between some of all of their teams in Dallas, Austin, and Quebec.

They made that game while most of Maryland’s capacity was focussed on Starfield, so they could just get those responsible for Fallout 76 to move onto Fallout 5. But how well did using non-core staff to make a Fallout game work for them with 76? They pulled it back by all accounts, but it didn’t launch well.

Some parts of BGS Austin are working on Starfield. Also, I believe Maryland mostly made the map of FO76.

I could see Austin becoming the Fallout studio but Maryland would need more manpower (as they need Austin to assist them on Starfield) and Austin would also need a lot more resources and people (sometimes it feels like they aren’t that many people working on FO76, I always felt like they never had the proper resources that the Fallout IP deserves).

It’s complicated.

I dont think we need to worry we got enough rpg’s coming to last a whole gen lol.

Yeah look how it turned out for GTA!

I actually think we’re going to end up getting sick of RPGs lol

Even though we’re gonna get a very nice amount of promising games, not getting a Fallout 5 this generation would be very disappointing, I can’t lie. I love this franchise so much.

But on the other hand, BGS is busy as hell for a long time to come, so the question is can they find the right team for it. Maybe let a small team continue with 76 updates and have the rest of them work on Fallout 5.

It’s too big of a franchise to leave in the freezer for too long, even if there is Fallout 76 which isn’t slowing down anytime soon. I absolutely hate what happened with GTA thanks to GTAO.

Main problem with a lack of Fallout this generation is that the graphics in Fallout 76 are so bad lol.

Hopefully we at least get a next gen upgrade.

Yeah it would be sad, I do think that having big gaps in between games can help them in the sense they can do a lot of stuff to improve and make them bigger games. I feel like if we got a Fallout game every 3 years it will get stale very quickly. Not saying that all games should be 10+ years but I do think it is a good idea to have a few games that do take longer so when they do release it’s a much bigger splash.

I think F76 was suppose to be the bridge between the games of these major Fallout releases but when know how that turned out, but then again look at all the games that have launched like that for Xbox and how they turned it around. Maybe they should go into a sub series of the game that releases between the big Fallout games that’s not F76.

Maybe they could release a sub series that are smaller in scope that lead up to the bigger game, would you guys be happy with like a Fallout: ODST kinda deal that is maybe 15-20hrs long that sets up for the 150+ hr next major Fallout? could be on a 3 by 6 year cadence.

That could work, i wouldn’t be against it. And i agree, every three years a Fallout would likely be too much. But the potential wait we might be in for now for a new mainline entry is unfortunate and after all the big RPGs have released there should be a perfect time to have Fallout 5 ready and that should be way before the generation ends.

Very good point too. Fallout is a franchise that sells itself , so once people hear Fallout 5 they pay attention and they will absolutely subscribe to Game Pass for it.

Yep totally get that, do we know if any work is being done on the next game? hopefully they do have some people working on the super basic stuff now for when Starfield is finished.
