Yeah. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that Flight Simulator and Contraband are published by Xbox Game Publishing, which is a part of Xbox Game Studios.
That’s why exclusives like STALKER 2 don’t have XGS on it’s trailer. They are not published by Xbox Game Publishing and they are timed exclusives, while Flight Simulator and Contraband are lifetime exclusives published by Xbox Game Publishing.
I had intended to be done with these. But I made 5 more. I used a few third-party characters here, but every one had at least one timed exclusive to xbox in the franchise.
If we would take only popularity then we wouldn’t have so much indie games on Xbox, because they would land mainly on Nintendo Switch (as it’s called as the home for indie games for many) and PlayStation 4 (because of huge number of sold consoles versus just 50+ millions for Xbox One).
Popularity could one of the aspects. Another one is definitely money. Two indie games publishers and we have different games from them on different platforms thanks to consoles timed exclusive deals.
Platform holders are paying them to have some of these games available exclusively on their consoles. I don’t think developers of 12 Minutes, Stray or My Friend Pedro wanted to have limited reach for their games, because they like Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo much more than others. It’s money. They paid to publishers for being first on their platforms. Simple.
As I said in the past, in my opinion it will be better for them to release it in H1’22.
This fall we’re going to have Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042 and probably another shitty Call of Duty which will millions anyway. CrossFire is not a huge and recognizable brand in the western countries. It’s mostly popular in Republic od Korea and People’s Republic of China. If they would like to have some more than of 5 minutes interest and not being hidden in shadowes by much bigger franchises then it would good for them to release CrossfireX in much calmer part of year for FPS releases.
So shame Microsoft Flight Simulator doesn’t have custom XGS start up animation, like Minecraft Dungeons and Gears Tactics. It should be standardized with some single exceptions (like Ori and the Will of the Wisps).
They just put XGS logo (also in the old style, because since December 2019 Xbox font is everywhere a bit bolder and they use now logotypes in full flat design) on white screen, which is really low effort to me.
That’s probably because the game is already on PC so it is not a “day one with gamepass” game on PC. The same is truth about Flight Simulator.
The games without this tag(Ascent, Psychonauts 2 and 12 minutes) are releasing on Xbox and PC at the same time and they’re all on Gamepass day one, so they are not just “ xbox console day one”. At least that’s how I interpreted this.
What else do you think they should show? It’s a second-party game – developed by third-party, published by first-party. So it obviously says it’s from Xbox Game Studios.
Yeah, Flight Simulator and Contraband are published by Xbox Game Publishing, a studio that is a part of Xbox Game Studios, that’s why these game have the XGS logo.
Also, these games are lifetime exclusives, while games like Stalker 2 and The Medium are timed exclusives that aren’t published by Xbox Game Publishing, so they aren’t a Xbox Game Studios game and that’s why they don’t have a XGS logo on their intro.
What else do you think they should show? It’s a second-party game – developed by third-party, published by first-party. So it obviously says it’s from Xbox Game Studios.
Ok, but why do you explain something that I know very well and it’s so obvious to me?
This is exactly what I said in my answer to Thebaconlife.
PS. They’re published by Xbox Game Studios. It’s called Xbox Game Studios – Publishing, not Xbox Game Publishing. It’s not a studio. It’s just a team within Xbox Game Studios division
Unfortunately… Would be great to have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and The Ascent as well as a second-party games.
I’m not explaining it to you specifically. I just see a lot of people asking if X game is going to be a timed exclusive or not. A quick way to know is to see if the game has the Xbox Game Studios/Xbox Game Publishing name attached to it. If it has that the game is probably a lifetime exclusive.
As nice as that logo trailer is, they are all counter productive to the point of getting into the game as quickly as possible, especially targetting the Series consoles.
