Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

Yeah, maybe we do have to keep in mind that this is very likely Obsidian’s biggest game ever as well. I mean with New Vegas they had the whole engine, tool set and so on from BGS and the Pillars games scope wise weren’t compareable to Avowed. It’s likely going to take longer than usual, even more so for obvious reasons.

But no earlier than E3 2023 like Hindle thinks, naw.

Personally I think if Starfield had been 100% ready, Todd telling Phil that he really wants to launch it…no matter if that was close to Halo or not, it would have happened. Don’t forget it could have been a September, October or December release, still a month between Halo.

Besides many already believed in 2022, but it’s the Q4 2022 that we didn’t see coming.

Just start to look why people were so wrong about SF, and you may begin to see how MS handle marketing

By this logic Xbox will release one RPG a year, so no this doesn’t make any sense in the slightest. The way you’re thinking about this doesn’t add up to common sense.

It’s probably a bit early for them to drop multiple games in a single month they will need a release schedule for the entire year, probably not a smart idea to have a backend loaded year or frontend loaded. Obviously, over time this will be less important because their studios will be up and running but now they’re in a weird spot.

We can at least expect maybe 2-3 1st exclusives a year for the next 2-3 years with it increasing over time, we’ll get more and more once all the teams start pumping out games.

Just my 2c

Anyway I’m done for the night.

What does that have to do with your statement saying that Microsoft wont release multiple games of the same genre in the same year? If Microsoft can launch 2 big rpg’s in the same year its a massive boost for game pass and subscribers.

One in March and another in September easily for example, that’s perfectly fine.

Sadly it is definitely possible. While a reveal at E3 next year seems very likely, a late 2023 release isn’t out of the realm of possibility sadly. Look at Starfield now, if Jason is right we get a proper reveal 1.5 years before release. It’s possible that’s how it will be for Avowed too.

But boy do I want to be wrong. Don’t want to set myself up for disappointments, but at this E3 would be sweetness! Really though, as cool as it would be to have them both next year, do we really need it when we’re all busy roaming space? Q1 2023 wouldn’t be too bad at all.

I don’t know why people are expecting Avowed at this E3, I hope none of you expect Fable too. Both feel way too soon.

Hindle seems to like making predictions that are safe bets to be true, though not for the reasons he states. Just so he can look smart later

Because the chances that two AAA First Party RPG’s are ready close to one another are pretty slim. And I think he knows and is counting on this

Microsoft has how many RPGs in development again? Like 10? Lol

Plot twist. Avowed is Q1 next year and Starfield Q4.

Nah, there’s no way. But in the future it could look like that, and that would be awesome.

I am hoping Avowed will be there, but not expecting it. Seems more like a 2022 thing.

I mean Avowed is being developed by a very well established and veteran team… Obsidian are generally very efficient in their development.

Unlike Fable, which is a completely new team created by playground in the last few years.

So what we can expect? If even Avowed is out of the card, maaaan…why MS cannot show yearly update of their games like Sony?

Why not? Logical follow up to last year is to see the game and nothing indicates it shouldn’t be there.

  • Avowed
  • Fable
  • InXile
  • Zenimax Online Studios
  • Starfield
  • TES VI

Omen could be one, but can also be like Dishonored and Prey, in that it has RPG elements.

Like if we are gonna drop 1 rpg a year then fallout never coming this gen.

haha yeah, look I’m just being realistc and I think as much as people might not like this Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite has this year on lock for sure anything more is icing on the cake. I feel like they want to focus more on gameplay this time and try avoid too much CGI.

By going on what I did say hearing about E3 this year, if they were using the same logic last year we might see Avowed gameplay since they showed a CGI trailer 12 months ago. Thinking about it now @Staffy could be onto it maybe they show a gameplay trailer this year and launch in June next year with Starfield holding November 2022.

I know it might seem like I’m flip flopping haha but I’m just trying to not get too excited and expect too much in case it doesn’t show.

That would be a dream come true. But I don’t think Avowed is that far along. Wasn’t it said to be the scope of like a TES game? And also that dsmned covid, it has set back many projects.

There is also Outer Worlds 2 and a smaller RPG from Obsidian.

One RPG a year doesn’t work, one every 6 months I could see.
