Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

That’s a big boi.

Oh nice ! It was ~72Gb (with addons) before the update.

I guess I need to uninstall MLB to make room for Doom. I really need to get an expansion drive, but waiting for something larger than 1tb, and the price does hold me back a bit

Planning on starting Doom Eternal soon as well. What’s the recommended difficulty? I’ve played tons of FPS but when I played the Doom reboot it was something else, I often had a hard time and it started to annoy a little too.

I always avoid easy and I assume for this game that’s too easy too. So what should I go for?

How about a big HDD to hold you over in the meantime?

I have a 2TB external, but I only use internal SSD for series x games only and these file sizes are quite large. However it is what it is there, but def need to invest in an expansion drive, but would want to get a 2TB one rather than 1tb

Second this, the 8 and 12TB WD Black’s have been on sale from several vendors lately  You’re gonna need it for all that 1st-party cold storage

If you finished Doom on Normal, play Eternal on Normal too. It’s similar in terms of difficulty. In fact, I would say it’s easier 90% of the time but the last two bosses are some bullshit.

I loved Doom Eternal but I do feel like its a mission too long. That final level had me just begging for it to end.

Got ya! That’s all I needed to hear. I game for fun, for my enjoyment and not throw insults at the screen, resulting in Lara, my dog getting scared. Not worth it.

I don’t mind a challenge, but I am not down with bullshit.

Oh damn, I had that with the first one already. But Eternal has a much better variety, doesn’t it? There’s new features like climbing and even some platforming?

‘I first pitched the game to Lucas in 2009!’ – Todd Howard talks Indiana Jones (and Elder Scrolls 6)

Neither game has an official title yet – but the legendary director is “super excited” about what’s in store

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first revealed back at E3 2018

Bethesda Games Studio director Todd Howard kicked off Microsoft’s E32021 showcase with the first reveal of his new ‘NASA-punk’ space RPG Starfield. Telegraph Gaming was granted an exclusive audience with him to discuss the game’s 25-year genesis, the easter eggs hidden in the new teaser trailer, and what the studio’s recent acquisition by Microsoft means for PlayStation-owning fans of their games.

We also took the opportunity to check in on the status of two other much-anticipated upcoming Bethesda titles: the Elder Scrolls 6 and Indiana Jones (both games are so far from release that neither yet has an official title).

The Elder Scrolls 6 was first revealed in name only alongside Starfield at E3 2018 – a move Howard confirmed was intended to assure fans the studio was still committed to single player games in the wake of the massively multiplayer experiment Fallout 76.

Few details have been released since – although some fans are convinced a hidden detail in the Starfield trailer resembling the outline to Lilac Bay, a location from the series’ Tamriel setting, offers a clue to the game’s location.

Howard wouldn’t go into specifics about the sequel to the Elder Scrolls’ enormously well-received 2011 instalment Skyrim but did offer this update on its development:

“The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both. It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine.

"It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?’ Every game will have some new suites of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require.”

Indiana Jones: where there’s a whip, there’s a way

Howard was more effusive about the upcoming Indiana Jones adventure currently being developed by Machine Games, the Swedish studio behind the recent Wolfenstein reboots, The New Order and The New Colossus.

“[I’m] Super-excited!" Howard exclaimed when asked for an update, pointing to the mini-replica of the Ark of the Covenant from Raiders of the Lost Ark taking pride of place on a display shelf behind him in his home office.

"I think I originally pitched [to George] Lucas in 2009 and I’ve been trying to find a way to make that [since]. And I think the work Machine Games have done, they’re just phenomenal developers and storytellers. And when I started talking to them about it, it was a good fit. And we got to the opportunity to talk to Lucas and Disney about it and they were super excited.

"I really like Indiana Jones but never thought I’d have the opportunity to make a game. And you’ll hear about more of that in the future. But the team at Machine Games are the best team in the world to pull this game off and they’re doing a phenomenal job.”

So,

As I look over the internet today, and I see that acquistion(s) by Sony, and we start comparing this studio to that studio and so forth, my mind keeps coming back to one studio announced in 2018:

Compulsion.

Clearly, the said or pitched SOMETHING to Xbox to make them want to acquire them. This clearly wasn’t a “hey we have 50 million left over, how about those WHF guys?”

Phil has talked about them being the dark horse for YEARS now.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING COMPULSION?! WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON!?

Nah I really think Compulsion was one of those opportunity buys in the same vein Double Fine was.

Are you really saying that Compulsion was “Buy 4 get 1 free?” It was their “Free Studio Acqusition” by filling out their punchcard?

But it worked and looked incredible in Unreal and they havent used creation engine since Fallout new vegas back in 2009 lol.
