Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

Yes, is unbelievable

Who says they’re leaking accurate information to him? I’d love to see them setting him up.

At the very least, these games are not being rushed out. For now, the focus for Xbox should be quality over quantity. The quantity will come eventually :crossed_fingers:

Personally, I am never one to fully dive into RPGs. It’s one of those genres that I have a ‘wait and see’ approach with. That partially explains why I am not so bothered with this supposed ‘doom & gloom’ news around Starfield

While I doubt that happening due to the complication of making sure he hears the same thing from anyone he contacts at the studio, crazier things have happened.

He does have sources within bethesda, it would seem… he knew that Fallout 76 was multiplayer survival.

And he leaked it on Kotaku.

The one thing that just is odd is…

It’s SO un-Bethesda to fully reveal a game and then launch it 1.5 years later. And in many interviews after the teaser trailer Todd has been saying this, how much he prefers the approach of reveal and release so close to each other. That way they can really show what you will be playing. I realize things can change…just odd.

Has Klobrille ever said anything regarding Starfield release? Did he go along with what Jeff and others kept saying or not really?

There’s one important thing I would suggest considering, when thinking about possible timeframes for future Bethesda titles.

There are now far more developers working at the studio than ever before. In fact, they now have separate studios in different locations working together under the BGS umbrella. They’ve finally grown out from the old core team of about 100 people & it didn’t happen until after Fallout 4, if I remember correctly. Which is actually crazy.

In a funny way Bethesda were ahead of the curve, relative to other Xbox first-party studios, when it came to staffing up or “organic growth” as people call it. I think it’s easily possible that we get at least Starfield & TESVI this console generation from them, especially now that Covid madness appears to finally be calming down.

Tangentially, I may be delusional or stupid but I’m not just believing that Starfield is definitely as far out as “insiders” are now telling us. I think BGS have been plotting this move for a long time, started pre-production work on the game years ago & wanted it out for the launch of the new generation of consoles. After Covid hit, I think the plan changed to releasing before Christmas this year. I’m waiting till the big reveal at E3 before accepting anything else.

When it comes to Starfield, it’s possible that MS tried to burn the other sources (although how that helps them is anyones guess), it’s possible devs tried to burn Schreier and hurt his reputation with agreed upon false info (i.e. Everyone agrees to say X when Y is reality) to get back over Fallout 4, it’s possible MS and BGS are on completely different pages (it’s not unprecedented, they went big on Halo just to delay it a year), it’s possible when Todd Howard talked about development he was trying to assuage fears that BGS Maryland was “just doing the multiplayer game” when that is the bulk of what they were doing and Schreier was right there. Ultimately, like most cases of assymetric information on this level, we just need to wait and hear it from the horse’s mouth. The one thing everybody seems to be on the same page about is that Starfield is at E3 (knock on wood) so hopefully we get a clearer picture then.

Yes, I think everyone should just wait for E3 and then take it from there.

Yeah same here, it would actually be amazing if this is Todd trolling him hard, kinda like a answer to how Jason leaked Fallout 4 script back then, which let’s be honest was a huge bitch move. It’s easy to put hope into this and that we get great news at E3, but often with things in the past (speaking from personal experience) the bad news usually is true.

Strange example but back when I was still a Eminem fan, he released a trash album and all kinds of forums came up with theories that he was trolling the fans and the real thing would come out soon. I remember how while I knew it had to be BS, I still slightly hoped it was true, lol.

Overall it’s just sad how excitement for something can be ruined so quickly. From “deep dive at E3 and the plan is to release this year” to “It’s probably a small trailer, big showcase later this year” (seriously, where tf did Skullzi even got that from?) and then “No longer a 2021 game, but I’m feeling good about Q1 2022” and finally “late 2022”

I know people hate the phrase wait for E3 (if it’s any consolation, Nintendo fans hear it ad nauseum too) but it really is true here. Ultimately, we have conflicting reports from legitimate sources that go against what other people report or have said. I have zero doubt all of the info given was given to these insiders by legitimate sources, even if the info itself is false for whatever reason (intentionally or not) but really, 23/24 days. By then, we will have a better idea and can react accordingly.

That’s the nature of the beast relying on insiders for info. More often than not, they’re either wrong or operating on false or potentially outdated info. It’s why I refuse to get overly excited for the “Typhoon” or “Dragon” games that Jez and others have been teasing.

Just assume everything is wrong and you won’t be too disappointed. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wise words which I will absolutely start living by from now on.

Phil and Todd are going to clutch Starfield in the last minute and release it at the same day as HI

Holy shit, I forgot about the Eminem stuff from way back. Those fans were adamant on it.

However, on topic.

Apply Occam’s razor (or mehrunes razor if you want to mix it up) to this situation.

Simple explanation. Nobody has a clue and all current leaks, regardless of who is saying it, are from those in the know but talking from different parts of the development pipeline. Developer, marketing, publishing, brand deals. Ect.

Easiest way to find out the truth is to wait. Now, I know that is the cursed statement here cause “we’ve been waiting on xbox for years” but just chill.

Nobody here would like it if a mob appeared outside your workplace and started screaming that you can do do 10 years of work in 1 year.

I know, right? I think it was because of the album Encore and/or Relapse?

We should just wait for E3 now. Several things still don’t really add up, we’ll find out.

But I will tell ya, it would be a thing of beauty to see BGS announcing the game for March 2022 and then seeing a tweet by Jason like “I apologize to everyone for the info that somehow turned out to be incorrect about Starfield.”

But it’s very unlikely :unamused:

Jason is such a clown.

Main tweet he knows will get likes and retweets: GUYS STARFIELD IS COMING WAY LATER THAN YOU THINK!!!

makes people think it’s a 2023 or 2024 game

Follow-up tweet that he knows nobody is going to read: it’s a late 2022 game.

willingly ignores Jeff Grubb and Tom Warren have been saying for a week that it’s a 2022 game

But he knows his BS tweets will be used as console war ammunition on forums and on the Internet in general. Great work, Jason. What a great journalist you are.

It’s been said on here already but I’ll say it again, almost all of the information we have about Starfield’s development & possible release date has come from the usual vague hints of “insiders” on Twitter. The good & the bad, the shifting narrative & changing release date… none of it has come from Bethesda, or Xbox.

I’m waiting until they’re ready to tell us what’s up. I’m believing nothing until the actual reveal.

I’m actually properly fucking fed up with “insiders” trying to play their audience like puppet masters.

You’re not wrong. He fully knows what he’s doing. That 2022 part could have been put in the first.

I always find it funny that Jason is so well informed at how Xbox studios are with release dates 18 months away but when it comes to Sony “I haven’t heard of any delay with The Last of Us 2s November 2019 release”
