“Why the massive output from XGS is harming the industry”

I don’t know how anyone could be, 2021 so far has been a wasteland, not even in 2017 there were 0 XGS games in the first half of the year, with 6 studios vs 23 as of now. Covid is the major culprit, but somewhere on the pipeline someone botched the plans, it’s impossible that they planned 2 consecutive quarters with 0 games.

Most of us are critical of their first party output for last gen. We’ve seen all of the work Microsoft has put into ensuring that doesn’t happen this gen though (they freaking spent $8 billion on Bethesda). You and the rest of us know that the games will come (there are too many studios for them not to). I simply take offense at getting angry about games not coming when you want them during a pandemic. Developers are doing the best they can. Games generally don’t just appear out of thin air.

Also, I don’t get minimizing releases like Psychonauts 2, just because they’re obligated to release on another platform. It’ll still be a game coming from an XGS studio that should be a good foreshadowing for their future exclusive work on Xbox.

Jeff Grubb :

“I didn’t say Q1. If anything, I was thinking spring. But the only date I’m confident about is 2022. I’ll say that something like 2.22.22 is unlikely.”

Spring would be so much better, but better prepare for November more like…smfh!

Just SMH at the forced doom and gloom. People need to get a grip. There is a pandemic, games got push back. (even then there is still more than enough to play out now and coming out in the near future) Also people bitched and moaned about “CG trailers” and wanted gameplay anyway , so now that’s what you’re getting. I swear game forums are fucking depressing these days and today’s “gamers” are largely becoming more annoying as time goes on. One of the reasons i tend to stay off social media during E3 showcases.

I can be excited for Xbox Future and game pass plans while also being critical (to a reason while acknowleding covid and delays) of its XGS output.

I feel like people need to close themselves off from the twitterverse a bit. Following these insider types is doing some damage. These people get on Youtube and Twitter and tell you something different every week and get your expectations completely out of whack. Then seek praise when the two things they got right, after literally predicting 10 different things over the course of months, comes to fruition.

Stop hinging your outlook on “things people hear” then post on Twitter.

I mean what are people even “complaining” about exactly? The show hasn’t even happened yet?

I’ll admit there does seem to be a bit of “Doom and Gloom” in regards to all the “Doom and Gloom”. Everyone (myself included I guess) just needs to chill out. Videogames are fun and all of this stuff really isn’t that important.

But for some of you, please just tone down the constant negativity. If you’re saying something several times a day, every day, it gets to be a bit much. Just trust that other users here know how you feel. Believe me, we know how you feel. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m so glad I don’t ride these insider waves of ups and downs

2020 and 2021 have been slow for me, personally. As I was having trouble finding anything new, or not yet played that truly grabbed me. Especially lately, but it’s over now

My personal dry spell ended with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which will lead me in to Biomutant, Metro Exodus X/S enhanced, Psychonaughts 2 and The Ascent. And who knows what else gets announced for late summber, early fall. We may get Flight Sim, the Diablo 2 remaster, Warhammer Darktide, Hell Let Loose, Insurgency Sandstorm, The Gunk, ExoMecha, Wolfenstein 3

And as a shooter guy, all I need is to get to Halo Infinite and Battlefield and I’m GOOD. For a long, long time. Starfield schmarfield. I’ll worry about that when it comes. 2021, 2022, January, Febuary…March, April, May…gone till Novermber. What the hell ever

But hey, that’s just me. Some of you will be suffering and for that you have my sympat…eh. I shouldn’t lie. I don’t actually care

That the 2021 and 2022 lineups are looking kinda iffy? Everything is based on rumors and speculations anyway lol.

I’ve learned my damn lesson for sure. I will still read these tweets if they appear here, I don’t go to Twitter myself for it. But even then I’ll just say…yeah we’ll see. The only thing truly matters, what do the creators or publishers say and announce? It’s things like these that just show how bad news these insiders actually can be too. Well, if you believe them completely that is, which my stupid ass did.

Truly felt Q1 was a real possibility, got those hopes shattered real quick. I realize I’m believing Jason now, a insider, but watch it being factual. I genuinely miss the days more and more where we didn’t have insiders, where E3 was a surprise that didn’t get leaked beforehand. A game got announced and then you just had to be patient for official updates.

They look iffy for the whole industry :upside_down_face:

Yeah rumors and speculation but no real fact. Even still the pandemic is no joke, it effected a lot of things games and otherwise. I’m starting to miss the days when people complained after the conferences were over, at least then there was something concrete to bitch about lol.

True, but if there was a PS4 version basically done before the acquisition it is highly likely they would release it. They could trash it, but I don’t think that would sit well with those that worked on it even knowing things get cut all the time in the industry. Also it goes against MS saying they aren’t going to force things on them.

Exclusivity being confirmed is just more proof the game has a later release date. If we go by rumors that Sony was shopping for Starfield to be exclusive or MS being in acquisition talks for years then likely these things happened before Starfield went into full development. So we can assume Starfield went into development at around the same time it was clear they would be bought by MS. That places game completion right around late 2022 IMO.

All of this will be answered soon enough

So you admit to posting nonsense!!!

Can’t help but feel all this doom and gloom about starfield and MS is because of these so called insiders. Seriously these guys set expectations so high with these BS vague “leaks”, and when it doesn’t happen it’s all doom and gloom. If you gonna leak something LEAK it.
