Journalists like Jeff Grubb and Jez Corden don’t write clickbait articles if they haven’t received any form of hard documentation.
I’m not saying Kojima can’t do multiple things for multiple people at all times…
It’s just weird how this was a “flash-in-the-pan” rumor where it came, exploded, and now we here nothing other than
“Not going to be here, i have no updates, still in discussions, still in discussions but with Lawyers…”
Jeff wrote a article about the Kojima deal… as he did with Starfield exclusivity.
He usually does that when he has 100% conclusive evidence that it’s real.
Otherwise, he just blurts out random rumours during the game mess stream or on twitter.
Anyone expecting a deal that was still in the works in April to make an appearance at E3 was being silly in the first place. How far along could the game be without a publisher to fund it?
I guess my problem is more with Xbox’s “insiders” more than anything else. Sony runs a tight-ass ship these days and I think it gives more “oophm” to announcements, even if it’s something like cross-gen GOW and GT7.
Meanwhile, Xbox get frequent articles about all the various different rumors, that we have no proof of, and they start getting taken as 100% happening, then they don’t materialize, and everybody is left disappointed.
Few Examples:

Battlefield 6 GamePass. “Battlefield 6” was never stated in the original rumor, but everyone took it as so and ran with it. It could easily have been FC6 or Back4Blood, or something else entirely, or never happened, but NOW we have this expectation that it’s going to happen.

Kojima/Xbox: Same.

XGP games: Both Typhoon and Project Dragon leaked, and the “oomph” of Project Dragon has already been gone now that we know it’s IO making it.
I think Microsoft has an insider problem more than anything else.
If Microsoft didn’t have insiders we would sit here talking about how there are no games and no plans for games. It is a necessary evil while the user base is this thirsty.

My problem with the current videogame landscape is that people seem to care more about the “Ooompf” of an announcement than they do they actual content behind the announcement. An Xbox exclusive from IO is exciting to me. The fact that it won’t be a “Surprise” doesn’t really change anything.
This isn’t a shot at you per se, but I find the narratives around all this stuff really obnoxious.

Didn’t IO say in an interview themselves they were making a new IP? That lead to the info being spread that it was XGP but yeah I understand. I could be remembering wrong
