Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

This whole complaining isn’t very constructive. So lets do some thought experiment: what would you have done differently in May 2021 as a Xbox marketing executive?

I would have spread out the FPS Boost announcement of 70 games over 4 weeks. This worked pretty good with backwards compatible title, where we got new almost every week.

@anon15396042: i understand your point. lets see how Xbox handles this with the upcoming new games. I think people here will still complain if there are some quiet weeks and forget announcements outside E3 like for Perfect Dark or Indiana Jones.

The inside xbox without the time talking with the developers. I think xbox should have an event each quarter, make updates about shown games, updates about dlcs or content in the gaas like fallout 76 or sea of thieves, show some third party stuff and the upcoming games for the next 3 months. Things like the gears operations or new content to halo infinite can fit in there too.

I never claimed no one knows who Xbox are, I’m saying that people won’t know what Xbox are doing. The only reason I know about most things Xbox is because of this forum and various podcasts, and I include Gamepass in that. I’ve had to explain to many people what Gamepass is, and these are people in some cases who actively subscribe to PS Now!

As an aside about being the top seller in the UK, this is simply because there are virtually no Playstations available. Everything made by both parties is selling

I’m pretty sure that in the case of Black Friday a) PS4 and Switch were perfectly available and b) most people buying consoles in BF are very casual players and still, Xbox came out on top. This idea that the casual market in the UK is dominated by PlayStation is just not true, it’s very even. More than in the US, in fact. This idea that Xbox only wins when PS is supply-constrained is not true, and it’s especially untrue in the UK.

Your friends that are subscribed to PS Now (<2 million subs service marketed at PS enthusiasts and “hardcore” players) but haven’t heard about Game Pass (>24 million subs service) are an incredible rara avis, especially when the latest Game Pass ad got 11 million views on YouTube and you’ve had the Pringles promotion in the UK.

I really fail to see why they wouldn’t do a hefty campaign reveal, in combination with multiplayer… in order to showcase the improvements.

With Halo getting ten minutes I don’t expect a walkthrough of campaign, but I DO expect new footage from it. Surely it can’t be ten minutes of MP. If it is…sigh.

That being said…all in all I find it a shame they don’t spend more time on it. Halo is so big, campaign wise, showing ten minutes of that world is nothing, but apparently we’re not even getting that.

And I totally agree with you. Klobrille is right that we’ve seen three trailers referencing campaign, however one was a engine trailer with no gameplay, the second was a cutscene, no gameplay and the third was gameplay but extremely WIP in the visuals part. Why would you not show the big improvements made?

If they dont want to do campaign walkthrough on stage at E3 for Halo, its fine.

They need to release a gameplay trailer of the campaign or something to hype us up again.

So strictly expect multiplayer?

I would be suprised if they didn’t show campaign. I also refuse to worry about it though.

Insiders now even managing to temper my expectations for goddamn Halo. We’ve waited so long and all year we didn’t see a thing, this is their moment to shine. I’m sorry but ten minutes of campaign showing the big improvements made would be perfect and should be the minimum and then about 5 minutes or so of MP.

Do you not impress folks with great campaign footage and a separate trailer with deep dive into MP?

Can it be June 13 already, fuck.

Why wouldn’t 343 show the campaign?

We have gotten 1 look at campaign and we all know how that reception ended up being so I dont agree with Klob here at all. People have been waiting for a full year to see the campaign visuals WITH multiplayer not one or the other.

3 trailers referencing campaign and 2 of them are fake. Cool.

You don’t need to agree with me. I’m telling you what you should expect.

Also I never said there won’t be any campaign. Quote correctly please.

Didnt say you said that and that was more of a generic statement so Ill separate it.

Worry is a big word, neither would I. But I sure would not understand their way of thinking. But then, for me Halo is campaign first, very much so and then MP. I realize there’s tons of people where it’s the opposite. One half for campaign, one half for MP. We’ll see.

Multiplatform, but exclusive.
Exclusive, but multiplatform.

Uhm.

Why wouldn’t 343 show the campaign? We have gotten 1 look at campaign and we all know how that reception ended up being so I dont agree with Klob here at all.

Anyway. It’s not important. They’ll finally show multiplayer.

I can’t be the only one that’s surprised Halo isn’t getting like 15 minutes or so, I mean the show is 90 minutes? I guess they truly got a ton to show of games in general then. That’s never a bad thing, of course.

Maybe it would sound so biased, so fanboyish, etc. from myself, but… When I see The Ascent more and more it’s such a shame that Microsoft didn’t secure that game as a Xbox Game Studios – Publishing partnership.

More money, more technology/technical support, maybe more marketing (this is some kind of Achilles’ heel for Xbox unfortunately), more people to work on from Publishing dev team, etc.

That would be for sure something much better than As Dusk Falls.

What about project dragon?
