Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

Who says Halo isn’t getting some good time?

That said, E3 is the start of the Halo Infinite “re-reveal”. The time to release later this year is long, they’ll have many more info drops.

Incredibly early. Let’s talk about it again in 2 or 3 years.

It will be nice to see what it’s going to be like, what kind of stuff is new but this would also have been perfect for a separate trailer that is watchable on YouTube and on their site immediately after the Halo segment or the show. Keep those ten minutes dedicated for campaign, which sadly didn’t get a great reception for the most part last year.

We’ve had some nice details this year via their blog about what the campaign will be like, we’ve had several PC screenshots showing a very clear visual improvement, and if I were 343 or Xbox I’d make sure to show that off, be proud of the progress made. I wouldn’t put the focus first on MP.

But at the end of the day I’m only guessing, for all we know they DO show 5 minutes of each. It’s still not a whole lot, especially with all the brand new things things the campaign will probably have. So maybe they indeed will announce dedicated streams coming from now till close before launch.

Halo 5 had 6 minute 30 during the E3 back then, campaign footage. Now we’re having a huge (almost open) world, new abilities, undoubtedly new enemies, vehicles, different areas to show off and it probably won’t get that length for a demo. The “concern” since last year have been no joke and except for the trolls it’s a valid argument. Many doubting the studio, which is unfortunate, now it’s their time to shine again.

Let’s wait and see.

Wonder if they will give us updated Game Pass subscriber numbers at e3.

Ten minutes isn’t a lot and the focus seems to be on MP, and also SP. I’m sorry if I jump to conclusions, I just am so hungry for Halo. I want the franchise to be on top again, I want the campaign to be fucking amazing.

Normally after a proper E3 demo or trailer of a game I don’t need more updates, but in the case of Halo I will probably check them all out. Footage that is. A special Halo Infinite stream between E3 and launch would be really good.

Like I’ve said before Halo really needs a state of play like event to showcase forge and multiplayer. With Halo being free to play multiplayer they really need to build hype to obtain and maintain players at launch

My theory is they decided to wait until E3 to say 25 million subscribers instead of a “weird” number like 23.

So a great time to do Inside Xbox - X, Y and Z games

I’m sorry but we should be tempering our expectations on getting a major focus on campaign for goddamn Halo of all at this E3?

Multiplayer is fine and great, would love to see it, but by definition, MP CAN’T look the best the game can be, which the campaign is precisely supposed to do. MP has to cut several corners to maintain really high framerates. And literally the only complaint Halo infinite has had that’s worth a damn is its visuals, so if the focus of this E3 is gonna be on showcasing MP more which won’t even allow the game to look its best, I don’t even know what to say.

I shall stick to my expectation of Halo still getting a proper campaign walkthrough at E3 with a focus on MP as well, maybe show off the robustness of the sandbox in online matches, whatever. Not really tempering it any further than this, and I don’t believe I am being uncharitable in saying that.

Halo needs to look its best at E3 (and that doesn’t mean it should look like HFW or Ratchet or whatever, I mean look like the best Halo they have planned), I really hope that isn’t too much to ask.

I just want to see the show already.

I’m tired of speculating, I NEED IT!

I wouldn’t mind if they tried to repair the image of inside xbox. I know it’s kind of been sullied in the past, but I think they can still repair the image by having events that shows gameplay. I think if they cut the host interaction that plagued the events they can repair the image. I think Microsoft just needs to use inside xbox like events to show gameplay deep dives and can also sprinkle some gamepass news and showcase some indies they have deals with. I think showing indies in major events is a good way to build relationship with devs since it’s good marketing.

I wish I could give this more likes, it’s exactly how I see it too. It already is unfortunate that we have to temper our expectations for big new updates on XGS, but Halo is the one that should take the spotlight at the show. This is the one where I really thought we’d at least get a deep dive into campaign, since this is the first time 343 comes with such a huge game world, a new engine, undoubtedly plenty of new things. And what you said about MP never being able to show the best visuals for Halo is very true as well.

All around the web I’ve seen plenty of people (I ignore trolls) that just didn’t have all that much faith in 343 after last year’s showing and all of them are waiting to have 343 show them that there’s no reason to worry at all. That this extra year or so spent on it were very well spent.

It’s still possible to show that in a few minutes, but a deep dive ala Fallout 4, I don’t know, I honestly thought that was a given for Halo now.

I saw the video in my list on YouTube last week, anything noteworthy? I assumed he was mostly going to cover old info.

Halo means many different things to different people. What you call “tempering expectations” gets other people hyped, see the whole /Halo Reddit, which is really excited we’ll finally getting a look at multiplayer. Campaign is not more worth than multiplayer. Again, we got a campaign walkthrough last year. It’s not like it’s suddenly a completely different game. I don’t want to be the party pooper for the people who simply want the same style of gameplay walkthrough just like last year but with more polished visuals, but I think the multiplayer hint at the teaser image exists for very good reasons.

I’m sure 343 looked at last year – what worked; and what didn’t work. The campaign gameplay trailer actually received a much better reception overall, and it can absolutely show improved visuals if that’s all people care for, but it’s time the other 3/4 of Halo Infinite get some spotlight as well.

And again, just so people get me correctly. I’m not saying they shouldn’t and wouldn’t show campaign. But expecting them to do basically the same as last year is probably not the best way to approach the show.

well, nobody posted this video here (XGS topic). i thought it would be interesting. :slightly_smiling_face:

he says for example that Fable :green_heart: can be on the XboxE3…

There should be enough time to showcase most of the Halo features with another show down the line. At E3 show what people have been wanting to see which is the campaign to show the visuals improved, show a multiplayer snippet and announce the beta and that should suffice.

Halo Infinite is literally the perfect excuse for xbox to adopt the State of Play format.

see, Klob, the thing is these other parts of Halo have one luxury that campaign doesn’t - Multiplayer can and will be getting a flighting program in the coming months, which means a lot of people can actually directly get to play the multiplayer of the game before it releases.

This is not gonna happen with campaign, as such, E3 was the best time for it to get a rereveal in a new light and finally kill the one thing poisoning all Halo discourse right now which is its visuals, and only Campaign can show the extent to which improvements have been made. MP or Forge or whatever simply can’t.

I’m sorry and I know you said you don’t control anybody’s expectations, but not getting a proper campaign walkthrough at this E3 would simply be disappointing to me and to a lot of others as well I concur, that’s all.

Agree. :slightly_smiling_face:

who started first was Nintendo  with its Direct.

Okay, let’s just agree to disagree then. I’m just trying to mirror what I think will happen/create proper expectations and I understand the decision-making behind it.

It’s in general quite difficult to have a multiplayer-driven thinking in these kind of communities and I don’t try to change that on anyones individual preference. Everyone wants different things from Halo, doing the right balance act is tough.

I don’t even think multiplayer should be shown at E3… it should have its own standalone deep dive along with Forge.

There was a reason it was delayed last year, partly due to the backlash over that demo… right ?

Well, you alleviate those fears and crush that narrative once and for all by a 8 minute gameplay clip of the campaign, narrated by Joseph Staten, showcasing the visual improvements over the last 12 months.

I mean that’s the logical conclusion.
