Xbox Game Studios |OT5| DOOM posting not allowed. Except for posting about DOOM

I would stick with simplistic and minimalistic branding. Especially that not everyone could know or/and understand something/everything from Albion or Eora worlds with naming some specific game showcase with specific elements from them.

These kind of shows would be directed to wider audience, not only for fans and specific game communities.

Not necessarily.

Xbox Game Pass for now is just a subscription service with catalogue of games. Of course, it’s import factor for a long-term strategy. We know it. But…

Xbox is still a platform and the whole gaming brand for various wings like consoles, Xbox network (Xbox Live), Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, Minecraft, etc.

Using Xbox + name of the game + Showcase could have very good reach as well.

Honestly i doubt that there’s people that doesn’t know for example about the vaults of fallout. I really believe that using the names of the big franchise universes can reach to more people, the fact its that xbox already have a lot of game universe easily known by the gaming community, names like xbox showcase are honestly boring, not only that but using a wider term of branding can make speculation in the internet, and that’s basically free marketing. Also ms need to put both quakecon and minecon into a showcase overall. Using the popularity and expectation of both events to show other games.

Yes, for BIG AND WELL KNOWN UNIVERSES of course, but not for new IPs or for some brands which will come back after many years, like Fable (yes, it could be forgotten for many) or even Perfect Dark.

If they would name the first ever dedicated showcase for Perfect Dark like Xbox dataDyne Showcase or, even worse, just dataDyne Showcase I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t know what’s going on at all. Especially that they would to sell it a reboot to the whole new audience as well. Not only 30-40+ years old fans. Even in that age target there would lot of people that don’t know about Perfect Dark or never played that throughout these years (actually decades).

The names used in that should be based in some universes but constantly the same. If you for example want to show fable and put the name of Albion direct, that kills the expectations about what they are gonna show. Instead if you use a name and a universe like e.g vault 21, whatever you are gonna show about fallout or not, it’s an easy name to remember, it’s easy to use and there’s expectations about what they are gonna show. One big problem that Microsoft has its that their e3 always get leaked. With constant small events they can avoid that and use the speculation in their favor. Microsoft can choose 3 or 4 names from their universes, and use constantly one of the names in one part of the year. Make speculation about that specific show and use it as free marketing. Or they can use only one e.g vault 21 direct, arc direct, etc and use it across the year.

The Xbox has:

Xbox Games Showcase

Xbox Tokyo Game Show event.

Inside Xbox May 2020 was very good. the program was pleasant to watch. They just need the content and they will have soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

Xbox is popular with letter “X” so I think these two names will be helpful:

  • XShow
  • XShow mini

And for other special coverage they can use:

  • XShow Special! ( Halo Infinite Showcase)
  • XShow Special! ( GamesCon 2021 )
  • XShow Special! ( Tokyo Game Show 2021 )

Do you think there is a chance of seeing The Gunk gameplay at E3?

In the last Xbox Era podcast or the one before, @Shpeshal_Nick said to temper expectations due to some games being pulled out - I wonder if The Gunk is one of those games?

Hope not, because it’s supposed to release in September. Maybe it’s CrossfireX.

In terms of content? Somehow yes. They could organise more AAA third-party games and deals.
In terms of promised gameplay? Definitely not.
In terms of quality? Montage of games was good, but these webcams looked so cheap.
In terms of expectation? So much overhyped. Especially with that perpetual announcing of Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla gameplay which wasn’t gameplay at all.

I mean, it was the closest thing to a Direct/SoP that the Xbox has ever done before Games Showcase. in terms of content it was weak. but i thought the format of event was good. :slightly_smiling_face:

IMO there will be enough great games from MS that the gaming division will thrive and continue to make more great games. It won’t matter if the “win” vs Sony, i.e. sell more consoles or win mythical GOTY awards. I don’t want them to manufacture hype like Sony does. Every time I read the word “mindshare” on this forum I want to hurl.

Idk why because its a “thing” in the gaming landscape and both Nintendo and Sony have it more than Xbox for better or worse.

Xbox has been doing a good job at getting some of it back but there is still work to do as we saw this morning with the international stuff like Korea and to see if all these gaming investments pay off (they should hopefully).

Ya know, whenever Xbox does show off what they have further out in the pipeline, people complain about it being a CGI fest. Yet when they decide to focus more on closer titles, people are going to complain about them not showing what they have further down the line. There’s no win-win situation for them.

I guess this will only end once the games actually start dropping.

Gonna truly end once we can stop saying “wait for the next e3” or “wait for next year”.

They could show both. Show everything. Bombard us with info about all the games, all the time. That’ll make the wait feel shorter.

Give us more.

But you gotta selectively hold back games …
