So I noticed that Phil Spencer was playing Fallout 4 on Xbox this afternoon. That seems a little too random of a game to be playing. Maybe we get a Monday blog post on Bethesda being official that includes a note on Fallout 4 getting that FPS Boost upgrade to 60 FPS.

I think it is probably Phil seeing how the FPS boost is rather than anything to do with the acquisition. It probably does indicate the FPS boost is coming soon though.

I like the “new” game design approach of Rare. Sea of Thieves was a “hit” because they have a “comcept” but nothing really precise in most of the gameplay aspect : a ship, some tools, and a living and dynamic world which the players will be lost in.

This is a way to “force” creativity, stop looking at other genre and trying to reach a “comcept” with a “feeling” and an “atmosphere” in mind.

I still can’t believe that Sea of Thieves feels fresh every time I launch it, really a fantastic game.

The fun thing is that it is fully possible. MS being serious can easily be a superpower in gaming. It has all the tools needed, it just needs to work more on the public perception. More localizations, more marketing etc.

Agreed, bright future ahead for Xbox gamers.

I will think about bright future, when MS will finally start delivering. For now, it makes all the rights moves - with the exception of “khem” Xbox Gold fiasco - but we need games.

This is possibly interesting. Some rumblings that there is a FromSoftware sci-fi game in early pre-production and MS might be publishing. Says he’s not sure if it’s legitimate though.

I will think about bright future, when MS will finally start delivering. For now, it makes all the rights moves - with the exception of “khem” Xbox Gold fiasco - but we need games.

I’d argue that MS have been delivering for the last three years, and the last thing they need to deliver on is having a regular output of great games. However, I think that gets resolved this year, and by the end of the year we have a regular output started and a flow of awesome games to play.

I’ve heard tales of these “games” you speak of but surely it’s a myth? I remember the old people talking about things like it from the olden days, but it always sounded like noone actually saw one themselves. Perhaps one day we will see one.

Xbox knows FromSoft is famous and has talent, they’d shower money on them for an exclusive game.
