Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

I reason I dont see JRPG as a huge risk is cause of Gamepass and I think they need one studio for them plus it would be nice to have a studio that could work with Tango and I believe Matt Booty said they want some type of Hubs for the Studios

Get back to me when Sony has first party studios working on JRPGs.

In fact, only Nintendo with one studio, Monolithsoft, actually has this - and it translates to exactly one game every generation.

The genre is incredibly niche even for Japanese publishers. I’d much rather MS continue to give financial incentive for games like Yakuza, Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy to release on Game Pass.

Most Jrps still end up on xbox. Tales, Final fantasy even dragon quest will all be there. Family games well they have plenty, same with action addventure games they just arnt exclusive but will rub better. I can make that argument about sony as they will lake wrpgs and good fps games.

That’s true but Sony has a good Japanese support.

Even with Game Pass, if you stand up (or purchase) a studio and continue to invest in them and their games don’t really get any traction on the service you’re still in a bad position.

That said, i don’t know anything about the size of the JRPG audience nowadays or their engagement on Game Pass.

Oh really man shut up.

I reason I really want one is so we can get an Lost Odyssey game

Sony has good support from everywhere, they are the market leader and buying up studios can’t and won’t be the long term solution to that.

With Game Pass, MS offer something tangibly different and better that gives them the edge - value. While JRPGs etc may release to Xbox with little fanfare or sales, Game Pass offers devs financial security and consumers the chance to try out games they normally wouldn’t even notice.

Investing in Japanese publishers and giving them easier access to the format is the way forward, and, by evidence so far, what MS have in mind.

You dont really post anything of substance and just be posting nonsense time and time again. Keep moving goalposts for your own little fun then.

I enjoyed Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon but I don’t know if I have it in me anymore. I tried to play FF15 and it was jist awful, lol. Having a ton of fun with Yakuza Like a Dragon though. Going to give Dragon Quest a shot and see if i can still do a traditional JRPG.

Haha I really liked FF15 but I know alot of people hated it I tired Yakuza 0 just didnt like it and the one Dragon game I played I had fun

Fantastic! :grinning: much better than the X018 and X019…

I see more Sega games coming to gamepass as the full Yakuza series.

Just a opnion: Is MS already bought Sega or we could expect a more strenght partnership?

I can’t stop to think how value a Sega’s acquisition would add to Xbox portfolio: not only IP (Sonic, Yakuza, persona Total war and Company of Heroes) but the right developers for different genre: Relic and CA for RTS would be Amazing for milions users on PC and console (CA developed HW2)

Expect an EA like partnership at best, no need to acquire them.

I’m just glad there’s one major Japanese publisher who doesn’t skip Xbox as much, unlike some. cough square Enix cough

Only Persona under Sega skip but atlus seem to operate semi independently at the moment and seem to make these decisions themselves. Maybe p4 golden doing well on steam shall make them reconsider this generation long exclusion of the platform. Especially now that Xbox and PC development can be streamlined with GDK.

I would love MS to buy SEGA, SEGA have a great place in PC market in term of gestion game and STR. Total War, Age of Empire, Compagny of Heroes, Rise of Nations, Halo Wars… Microsoft would have a lot of great STR series in gamepass, it would really help PC gamepass. Sega would also provide a glorious japanese support with Atlus and Yakuza studio.

But a buy is impossible now since SEGA still own a lot of other business outside video game like real estate. With the COVID crisis, I don’t think SEGA is going to sell their most prolific business to save their pachinko or sport gym but I hope MS can buy at least Relic Entertainment from SEGA

So when do you think we will get another Xbox event or aquisition news?

Do we even know what type of game Ark 2 is yet? Unironically excited about this one as I love playing with friends.
