No idea? more to follow soon i think?
This is why I am interested what they are building. A lot of talent from a lot of big AAA studios are at that place.
For those saying Starfield probably wonât be next year because itâs Halo Infinite time in November. But if the game is ready, there should be no stopping them of releasing it any month next year except November. Yes even December, why not?
Sony after all this year dropped TLOU2 in I think it was June and July had Ghost? And I donât think either suffered from it. I want Starfield for next year so bad, 2022 sounds so damn far away. And thereâs no telling if thatâs early 2022 or end of 2022.
same.
I agree theyâll release it when itâs ready, and I think MS would love to have two HUGE games for the holiday season to help market and sell consoles.
I personally donât think weâll see Starfield in 2021, but thatâs just me being pessimistic about Todd Howard and Bethesda.
my godâŚ
I get ya, haha. But still, donât forget how ever since the acquisition news MS has been mentioning Starfield a lot. They specifically mentioned Starfield and then said Todd Howard and Bethesda and also the leaker of the likely to be legit leaked screenshots said 2021.
But yes, who knows with how the world has been for almost a year nowâŚbut I hope so! And also, Halo is great but itâs not for everyone one, there definitely are people that donât love Halo as much as we do but one that canât wait for anything by BGS.
Iâm just fucking tired of this coming up again and again. 343 is NOT getting rid of Xbox one release, at least at launch, this late into development. I can see them dropping support after a year or so, but not at launch. People just gotta stop basing this on how dogshit cyberpunk runs on it. Theyâre completely different games with completely different goals, completely different engines, completely different developers.
Didnât realize The Initiative is at 55 or more people! I reckon after this reveal it will be much easier to recruit new people, so I expect them to at least triple their count.
Itâs possible that Perfect Dark is in a similar state, playable for Phil but in no way can be shown to the public. I do think PD is much further along, but still far from ready to be shown. E3 next year hopefully!!
People need to stop acting like theyâre understand developpement or like they work at 343i. If 343i relese Halo Infinite on Xbox One and Series X, itâs because they can make a great version on both console.
I say they have approximately 70~75 people. On linkedin of TI it says 67, but not all employees have an account or are registered there. And they have the full support of other XGS colleagues and more help from other Support Studios, if any.
I can see Microsoft eventually having 1 or 2 studios for family/kids games and they already have a few studios for action adventure. If they end up with WB Interactive at some point, the fighting genre aspect would be covered. If not, they should acquire Iron Galaxy for Killer Instinct but at this point, it seems unlikely to happen. As for JRPGâs, Microsoft would be better off paying the Japanese publishers to get them at the very least day and date as PlayStation or go a little further and get them in day one on Game Pass while PlayStation consumers would have to pay the $60+ for them.
I donât see Microsoft ever having a Japanese studio dedicated to JRPGâs nor should they because it just doesnât make any business sense whatsoever. It would be flushing money down the toilet. Best thing for them to do is what I mentioned earlier or just say fuck it, and pay for timed/full exclusivity and thatâs it.
Pretty much agree with you in regards to how to get JRPGâs onto Xbox.
Itâs like an all star team.
Difference being TLOUP2/Tsushima were releasing months before the generation ended and Sony wanted to get them out of the way. Halo Infinite/Starfield in back to back months in what would be the start of the second year in what will be a 6-8 year long generation would make no business sense and what happens if in 2022, Microsoft has nothing else ready until say June? Then what?
Itâs always better to spread out your exclusives and let third parties fill the gaps. My guess would be early 2022. Probably March. Give plenty of space between Halo Infinite and the first massive game from Bethesda Game Studios while also giving Todd Howard and his team more time for development, optimization and polishing.
Plus, think about this - X021 shows off an in-depth 30 minute segment with Howard for Starfield and he tells you itâs coming in a few months. Thatâs so much better than releasing it in December after Halo Infinite because in my mind and most people, that tells me that youâre trying to take the focus off of Halo which in turn makes me think, well, whatâs wrong with Halo that it needs to be overshadowed when it shouldnât?
On an added note, all the boxes used for Series X have Halo and Master Chief on them so better off just having Halo Infinite as it would save costs because of this while at the same time, spreading out the releases also would allow Microsoft to have Starfield custom consoles in March 2022. Having both one month after the other to me is counter-productive to what Microsoft should be doing which is having amazing exclusives spread out to not only give you something to play and look forward to on a consistent basis but to also give each game their own space to breathe and ensure that no one game overshadows the other.
My belief is that 343 should cancel the Xbox One versions of the game for one simple reason - if the game is going to be a 10 year live service project, at some point, the Xbox One version would be cut off anyway because imagine 2030 and the game still has content on Xbox One. This would be insane. Tech that would be over 17 years old and obsolete would make no sense plus design wise, they would be restricted to what Xbox One can do unless they have two completely different versions of the game which would make things far worse than cancelling it.
Add in the fact that Microsoft will have that X-Cloud streaming stick and possibly an app for Xbox One that would allow you to stream Xbox Series X versions of the game to your Xbox One via X-Cloud, I think keeping an Xbox One version of the game would do more harm than good especially in the long term because eventually, you have to cutoff support for the game. At some point, you simply need to move on and move forward, not backwards and just like anything in life, the sooner and faster you do it, the better off youâll be.
If Bungie could release Destiny 1 on the 360 and PS3 and then cut life support for it then why cant 343 do the same?
Which Series X games donât have to be on the internal SSD again?
I know we can cold storage Series X games, but I think Sea of Thieves, Ori, and Halo can run the enhancements off the HDD right?
Difference being that Bungie abandoned their 10 year plan for Destiny and instead, gave everyone a sequel 3 years later. If Microsoft/343 are intent on sticking with a 10 year plan, they would have to cutoff last gen support which in my mind would piss off more people than cancelling the version completely because you canât complain about something you never had to begin with where as years later, you can complain because you would have had access to the game for at least a few years at that point and to then no longer have your version (being Xbox One) supported would be far worse than just cancelling it completely.
My personal thinking is that with X-Cloud, why not just stream the Series X version to the Xbox One and eliminate the actual base version completely? This way, Xbox One users get the best console version, never get left behind in regards to monthly/yearly content and donât have to upgrade to Series X/S if they donât want to.
Thatâs what I would do if it was up to me. Now, if the streaming aspect for whatever reason couldnât be done then well, im sorry but I would cancel the old gen version. Stop holding back design and the game is going to run bad on the base 2013 console. It just is. Why even go through all of that to begin with? Makes no sense. If people want to play the game, itâs simple, buy an Xbox Series X or S. Or just wait until you can do so.
I will never understand why people want to always cling to the past. I donât get it. I donât want game design to be restricted and limited because of decade old tech. I simply donât believe in this. When you get new consoles, you want to fully utilize the tech as quickly as possible.
I will be playing all my games on Series X so none of it affects me personally. I just see it as being more trouble than itâs worth. But to each their own.
Youâre missing the point⌠that the game has already been made for Xbox One⌠As in the game is playable on xbox one right now in all forms. They arenât going to scrap it now. This game was always going to be cross gen and MS never hid it.
As I said, I suspect theyâll do this sometime in 2022 or at max late by 2023. Destiny did the same in 2016.
Being made and being released are two different things. The Xbox One version will get cutoff at some point so I just donât see the purpose in releasing a game for a console that eventually will no longer be supported. But whatever. As long as the Series X version is amazing in a year from now, I will be a happy gamer.
Oh wow. So Bungie cutoff 360/PS3 support in just under two years. And here I thought it was three years.
