adding some more commentary to this, it actually makes a ton of sense and the strategy is brilliant. The Initiative would essentially be taking the third person narrative game that everyone wants, making it only 15-20 hours and using the same formula for another game. This is pretty much what Sony does except they make longer games which also needs a much higher budget.

The 15-20 hour, third person single player game which is seasonal makes a ton of sense for Game Pass, not so much as just a traditional game that relies on sales units.

Maybe it will be a ‘game platform’ across the whole of the new gen that every couple of years get’s a new update. So Perfect Dark first, then other under-used IPs. But would the gameplay be the same, only with a different theme? Or completely different gameplay between the releases.

It’s likely a different game once every two years, and they can absolutely hit that target if they are making a specific style of a game and its just a 15-20 hour campaign. They take the same engine and fundamentals, and alter the combat/visuals/story.

Oh fuck that is so cool. So like a shared universe with, for example, Perfect Dark, Crimson Skies, maybe Shadowrun since they seemed to settle the MechWarrior situation and Freelancer sounds fucking awesome.

Looking at the team and people that work there I would say Quantum Break would make the most sense with that said it really could be anything

… Man Europe timings are nothing compared to where I live. Yall get it at 1 am, at least possible to stay up late for this one instance, but for us here in India it starts at 4 or 4 30 in the midnight I don’t know what to do till then cuz I know if I sleep ill end up sleeping through it like the last year, and last year I woke up to see Xbox and Hellblade 2 announcement already done with. I know there won’t be announcements at that scale but I personally like catching these live and celebrating alongside others online.

15 hours game is far fetched. Maybe something similar to yearly COD campaign is possible? Even far cry has released games yearly🤔
