Meh, no way, not for me. For me not much changes. Ever since Game Pass has become so good (wasn’t worth it for me in the beginning) I’ve been subbed to GPU.
But that doesn’t mean this isn’t really bad. I get that they want more and more people using Game Pass, but damn.
This is such a bad take, I can’t believe it! So regular customers don’t care how much they pay? Then why did Microsoft made cheaper console and why do they advertise gamepass to be such a good VALUE? If anything, we could argue that hardcore fans don’t care as they’ll lay regardless.
This is such a bad move that I honestly can’t believe it. Imagine how it is for people who mostly play just cod, fifa or madden or even worse some free to play games!
Most kids want to play just one game, not hundreds of games. Something like fortnite, among us, fall guys, minecraft, roblox, that’s what kids play, bot hundreds of games.
Fifa and madden are included in Xbox game pass so they aren’t missing out on playing those titles. They can still play free to play games and they have access to hundreds of other games.
The thing I have found is that when kids have access to hundreds of other games they actually play other games. They have different experiences and get excited to share those experiences with you. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard “have you heard this game? You need to check this out.”
It’s absolutely crazy to think a better option than gamepass is paying 60 to 70 dollars for multiple games over just giving a kid GamePass. The best part is that its inclusive. So there is no well so so has this game and we want to play online together. With gamepass everyone has access to the same catalog so there is always something to play.
Especially now with a pandemic going on and everyone being home more having access to a large catalog of games like gamepass has been huge for my kids.
Plus, It just makes the most fiscal sense. 15 dollars a month is fairly easy to come up with if you need to. However, you can also get gamepass ultimate for free just by using bing and turning in reward points if the expense really is just too much. You can max out your point total in less than 5 minutes each day and if that five minutes of effort is too much for you to do for your kids I don’t even know what to say. Not to mention if you shop around you can find discounts on gamepass ultimate quite consistently I see deals for 6 months of ultimate for 30 bucks across amazon, newegg, target, walmart, best buy, cdkeys, etc.
they should have atleast added something to justify the price increase, even if it was bullshit.
Like maybe get rid of games with gold but then you get a reduced version of gamepass that has the first party back catalog of games that are atleast a year old or something, to get people hooked on the gamepass concept.
Regardless of how you feel about MS services, can we all agree this was a poor decision on their part? The optics of this are bad no matter how you try to spin it and this will be a PR disaster (already is from what I’m seeing) and it was all so unnecessary.
Absolutely. I’m starting to see comments on other sites that it almost looks like as if MS wants to back down from the console race. Well, we all know MS doesn’t care where you game, as long as it’s in their ecosystem. So I guess they have been out of that race for a while?
For us GPU folks it’s not really a huge biggie, but for those that have Gold for Fifa or some other games now and then it’s not good at all.
Thankfully, Gold can be shared. So it’s gonna be 50/50 for me and my brother.
ya man I get that. between this and the uncertanty of thier games staying exclusive and the broken achievment system I find myself finding the ps eco system more attractive , Gamepass is still the best deal but I think this is anti consumer. I also expect sony to do the same in a year
First of all the Reward Programm isn’t available where I live so that’s that.
Second I’m the guy my family and friends ask which console they should buy for their kids/sometimes even for themselves so I know what they play.
So tell me should I tell them when their kids want to play the new Fifa, Cod or fortnite that they should go for the Xbox with ultimate for 180$ instead of 60$ just because they might want to play more different games which isn’t even the goal for most parents?
I literally got 3 people to subscribe to ultimate last year because they know how much I love it but I also feel bad because I told my cousin that he should buy a Series S for exactly that kind of fortnite kid I’m talking about because I was sure it wouldn’t get more expansive I even thought the f2p pay wall would be gone soon.
I just don’t care what Microsofts plan is behind this I care what I and my friends and family have to pay.
I don’t think the increase of gold is an awful thing, it’s just a bad marketing by MS
They want to convert gold members to gamepass ultimate, then when there is almost no gold member in 2-3 years, they can get rid of gold and continue with only gamepass and gamepass ultimate
Microsoft want to change gamers’s habits and I think they are going to succeed, they already did this on xbox 360 against PS3, free live on ps3 vs 60€/year on Xbox and Xbox still have success and became the reference model for online multiplayer.
As someone who pays on both Xbox and PC and is subscribed to GP ultimate, this is ludicrous from MSFT. I know many people that play multiplayer exclusively but down want Game Pass due to the lack of titles they want.
