All Bethesda has to do is not hype it up for years, re-announce the game along with some gameplay a few months before release. Then do a “Like all games under Xbox Game Studios, Starfield will be part of Xbox Game Pass day one.” during e3. assuming the game is exclusive they need to really hammer that in, bring in that voice that says “Xbox and windows 10 EXCLUSIVE WORLD PREMIERE”.
I mean there is no evidence to say this wont happen this gen. Just love how everybody is sharing the Fallout IP without knowing what Bethesda actually plans to do or even if they want to share it.
Psychonauts 2, Flight Simulator for Xbox, Grounded full release.
With expansions and content for already released games it’s looking to be a packed year.
Fallout is a billion dollar IP and those studios you mentioned are all.busy. A new Fallout game i think will be a priority for MS
Microsoft has like 6 rpg’s in development that we know of. 0 need to rush a Fallout game much less make a studio from scratch for a game that already has a home.
Outer Worlds and Starfield can fill the Fallout void dont worry.
Fallout is bigger then both. MS didn’t spend 7.5bn to let one of the.biggest draws of this acquisition just sitting there doing nothing.
But its not gonna be doing nothing what do you even mean. Its right there ready to be Xbox Exclusive when its time comes. Its Starfield and Elder Scrolls time and if you want a similar experience there would surely be Outer Worlds 2 by then and whatever inxile makes.
It’s basic business. The last Fallout game sold 15m. You don’t leave an IP like this on the shelf for long.
It’s $$$$. I mean rumours are going around there is a new Fallout in dev. It’s too valuable of an IP to not fast track
There are two things I really hope to see happening by Xbox from here on out.
1- More singleplayer games. And by the looks of stuff that is in the make it should be exactly what is happening. Sure, Fable or Avowed for example were never announced as singleplayer games but I would say it’s a given that they are.
On top of that comes Phil Spencer in one of the interviews last year specifically saying he would like to see more SP games. So it seems that wish is definitely going to happen.
2- Third person games. I personally care a lot about being able to see my character in a game like Dark Souls, GTA, RDR, Tomb Raided and so on. I can’t imagine Tomb Raider being nearly as good had it been in first person only.
But I would say the same about a new Fallout game being in third person only, that would just be off. But I definitely agree with those that say Xbox needs more third person games. And not even cinematic action adventures only like Uncharted, nah, could be a stealth game, a action adventure like AC or Ghost of Tsuhima, like a Dark Souls. And hopefully by one of their studios that does AAA games.
In my opinion a good balance of first and third person would be ideal. Unless I’m mistaken the majority of games in development are first person. Avowed, Perfect Dark, Halo Infinite, Wolfenstein 3, Ghostwire, Deathloop, Grounded, Starfield (optional third person, but likely not ideal), TES VI (same), inxile RPG, The Outer Worlds 2. And then there’s future Arkane games which I assume will be too.
Third person we got…Fable (they never confirmed, but I can’t and don’t want to imagine it being something other than third person), Psychonauts 2, Compulsion game, next Gears game.
It’s just something I hope to see a better balance of eventually.
Rumors with 0 concrete info. Basic digging around would tell you Obsidian is full, Inxile is full also and BGS (Maryland) is also full.
Its fine that Fallout is not in development yall can relax its not like we are going 20 years without it.
Let Todd work on whatever he wants. Bethesda Game Studios loses value if they make games they don’t want to work on. They want to keep us anticipating every game they make, if we have a situation where they give us Fallout after Fallout people will say “all xbox has is Halo, Forza, Gears, Fallout”
We’re going to see new Fallouts eventually, I think its a huge possibility that we don’t see a new one on the Series X 1st generation though. like, they’ll announce a new one when the Xbox Series 2 X|S get announced most likely. Sorry to burst your excitement but if you look at Bethesda’s track record they definitely seem to be too busy with Starfield and Elder Scrolls. last gen Bethesda gave us two new games and 1 remaster of Skyrim (it was overhauled a lot more than people pretend).
I genuinely think that Obsidian will eventually make a fallout spinoff IN the Creation Engine, only after Bethesda releases Fallout 5 though.
I’d like to think like this:
Microsoft: Announces Bethesda Acqusition
Obsidian: Ay yo, WTF
Bethesda Studios: Hey man, this is awkward. Crazy seeing you hear again.
Microsoft: So we can’t legally do anything with you guys yet, but Obsidian if you want to talk things over with Bethesda, that’s cool. Check back on the two of you soon.
Obsidian: So, remember that time you tried to screw us out of our bonuses to purchase us on New Vegas?
Bethesda: Yeah man, that was crazy. So since we’re going to have the same owner, you want to make New Vegas 2?
Obsidian: You serious? We were kind of in the middle of something with The Outer Worlds II.
Bethesda: I’m serious man.
Obsidian: Shit, okay.
Which is why they will create a studio dedicated to the IP.
Why would you want this? we have this with 343 industries and The Coalition and people constantly question why they continue to only stick to one franchise.
Waste resources to make a studio for a game that already has a developer?
I think we see a new game in 2026. Still a while away but within 5 years
Imagine thinking Bethesda will just let somebody else drop a new gen fallout and not be their product. Lmao.
But yes I think your scenario is accurate.
It’s not a waste of resources when the IP sells 15m per game lol. And all devs at the moment won’t have time to make Fallout for years.
I mean we COULD just wait another month or two when the deal closes.
I’m sure around the time it closes there will be some kind of stream or inside xbox or something.
A PR interview at least.
