Agreed! I mean everyone and their mother knows about Starfield by now and that it’s a BGS IP. So there’s a reason they have been bringing it up a lot lately.
You’re right about that, but he did apparently give us correct info on HL Alyx and that one upcoming new zombie game. Still, doesn’t automatically mean he’s always gonna be on the money.
that’s true lol, Spencer always talk about Starfield, I expect Starfield to be available before 2022. The same way he talk regularly about Compulsion’s next game, I think we are going to see a trailer at least this year
I see people using Phil’s use of Starfield to be indicative of an imminent / 2021 release. But…
Is it possible that in the run-up to the Bethesda announcement a short agreement was put in place whereby Xbox can mention Bethesda in a certain capacity? With Starfield being the only confirmed but upcoming game, I can see it being possible that Starfield was simply the only game written into that agreement. I know technically Elder Scrolls 6 has technically been teased/ announced, but the title hasn’t been decided yet.
I just don’t think Phil mentioning Starfield frequently is an indication of anything. If other insiders are right and Wolfenstein 3 is this year, why not mention that? The answer could simply be that he isn’t allowed too yet.
Yes they do even with gamepass being there. Lets not try and discount that even tho Microsoft wants you on the subscription service the end goal is to sell games be it third party or their own.
That would be a total waste of resources. Fallout has a home and its BGS and in the worst case Obsidian could do a take on it. Making a full on team is a long process (Look at Initiative) and doing one for a franchise that absolutely doesnt need it is nonsense.
Yall know its ok not to have games in a franchise all the time right? Fallout getting a nice rest while its Starfield and Elder Scrolls turn and 76 has legs.
When Microsoft owns Bethesda, Obisidan’s The Outer Worlds becomes irrelevant. TOW was created to be the next Fallout that Obsidian could work on when they thought they would never get a chance to make another Fallout game.
When the deal goes through, put TOW II on the backburner and focus efforts on a new Obsidan Fallout game. The Outer Worlds doesn’t need to exist in a world where Microsoft owns the Fallout IP and owns both Bethesda and Obisidan.
This is one kind of take that is just wrong all around but feel free to post. Also Outer Worlds is Obsidians child and they arent going to drop it for a franchise they dont “own” or can do whatever they want with it.
Hey I said it was a take, I didn’t say it was a good one.
I think there’s more value to Microsoft, Obsidian and the Fallout IP to have a new Obsidian Fallout game before TOW II. I loved TOW, but I think now more than ever, it’s time for Microsoft to strike while the iron is hot with the Zenimax IPS.
TOW was great, and did okay, but didn’t exactly set the world on fire. I think a New Vegas 2 by Obsidian is just the UMPH that is needed.
Bethesda owns Fallout so any of this conversation is moot cause I really doubt they want to let any other studio work on it when they have their own stuff for the franchise. Once Starfield is out the door that team can work on getting the next Fallout ready anyway so I dont see any gloom and doom decade.
Frankly dont want any of these studios rehashing stuff from the others unless its some dormant stuff people havent touched in like a decade or two like Perfect Dark. You telling me these studios finally get some freedom and money and they want to go and work on stuff that isn’t theirs? Okay
If BGS has 3 tent pole franchises they need to grow to the point where they can support an entry in each one per generation IMO. Either that or let one InXile/Obsidian (both of which have prior historyvwith Fallout) do their thing.
I don’t think there should be a generation where we don’t see a Fallout or Elder Scrolld game. We’ll see whether Starfield ends up as big as those.
