Well surely there is a middle path somewhere between dark&gritty and glossy toys? ![]()
I liked the gameplay sections in this reshaded video of the demo. The cinematic sections however I feel the original looks really good on its own.
Yea it was the visuals that people had a problem with not the actual gunplay which i think saved it in my book
Yeah I dig this a lot more.
I had already forgotten about those gray structures in the mountains, as if they were taken straight from Forge. Looks very out of place.
No the gameplay is solid, I meant the gameplay part of this video, where the guy did some touch up and the game already looks so much better, goes to show just some post processing can do wonders.
The gameplay indeed looks fine. The gunplay looks great and fun, the grappling hook seems like a really cool addition and I really like the audio design when Chief exits the ship when we hear the Grunts. I love Grunts.
The grunts have always had so much personality.
Honestly super cool to see that in a world of gritty emotionless military shooters, and glad that they haven’t forgotten that charm the series represents.
Apparently Joe Staten was the one who voiced them originally, and now he’s back in the project which is amazing.
It’s from 4chan, so definitely take this with a grain of salt. If true though, really hope their western division doesn’t end up going to Ubisoft. Ubisoft is definitely better than EA, Take-Two, or Activision, but even then, I would not be very happy with that. Xbox should try to step in, they definitely have the money to do so. Crystal Dynamics and Eidos would be amazing additions.
Honestly, this probably would not be a bad thing. Crystal Dynamics was apparently busy with yet another online game like Avengers and it just isn’t their forte at all. Great single-player games is where they excel at. If they go to Ubi, I hope Ubi let’s them make SP experiences again.
Well said!
I believe these used a pug dog for the Grunt sounds. Or was that a new creature? I remember seeing the tweet about it which also included the recording of the pug sounds, haha.
That would be better for sure!
Ah yes, more open world and annualised ubification of Deus Ex and Tomb Raider IPs is exactly what we wanted. ![]()
Current day Ubisoft is good at one thing, sadly they infect every ip of theirs with the same model and structure (WD, AC, farcry, division, etc that are all now open world) or just put the IP to bed (think Splinter Cell, PoP, and every other franchise that thrived on a linear structure). Hopefully that is changing in their coming years with the aggressive detoxing the company went through this year, losing certain key creatives who’d shackled their games to the point of homogenization.
If Microsoft can’t get Crystal Dynamics/Eidos, then Ubisoft would be my second choice. I have way more CONFIDENCE in Ubisoft than I have with Square Enix who outside of a game here and there, are nowhere near what they were as SquareSoft.
I really wish Microsoft could pick up that division. Having Deus Ex and Tomb Raider in-house would be such a gift.
Lol get Deus Ex and just give that shit to Arkane ASAP, maybe do a collab between eidos Montreal and arkane for that one. And Tomb Raider would simply be poetic lol, like yall thought 2016 timed exclusive was shocking? watch this permanent exclusivity come in on the next TR. It would also be fun for Darrell Gallagher to see his old studio become sisters with The Initiative, get an obsidian Bethesda type situation going. ![]()
Time to open up the wallet, MS
(if true)
Lol I think we should just ignore this. 4chan comes up with the most bullshit rumors I’ve heard. Remember the EA Miss Universe and Titanfall 3 reveal rumor that Xbox would supposedly show the day before Pre-orders? That was 4chan. Same with all the other fake leaks.
Yeah, me too. I think Microsoft would be much happier with the success their games get than square Enix is. I remember tomb raider 2013 selling north of 6 million copies and SE being disappointed with the result.
I think MS would buy it for the studios, Tomb Raider and Just Cause are good franchises and it shouldn’t be a high priced acquisition either.
and considering MS wanted to make Lara Croft a face of Xbox too
