It’s a tad too dark but yes, overall it shows what an immense difference it makes. Shader adjustment and absolutely lighting too. Hopefully 343 makes huge moves in these aspects.

I came across this on Youtube…i have no words.

Halo actually looked incredible, gameplay was authentic and the visual art style was on point. The problem was that the demo was too slow, if they are showing a vertical slice of a first impression, they needed something that was fast paced, tons of on screen action, and basically demonstrate a lot of elements happening at once on screen.

This is why that Unreal 5 tech demo ‘WOWed’ people, it wasn’t the highest graphic fidelity, it was just the pure action of what happening on scene.

Sounds like we’ll get a Halo Infinite update on the 17th of December then. So I guess the question is will they be announcing a time period for more infinite information, a release date, showcasing some stuff or some combination of the above…

Not for me though. Visually the Unreal Engine absolutely impressed me and it was exactly the visuals in HI that disappointed me immensely. From the very weak looking explosions, to absence of lighting, not to mention the enemy that talks to Chief at the end. The character model just looked really bad.

Halo 4 in my opinion shows what lighting can do and as the latest user made clips shows shaders too. Or even HI itself. The 2018 trailer which to this day still looks awesome. Where is that kind of lighting shown in there? It’s actually kinda crazy how much better (imo) Halo 4 and 5 look visually.

I am with you, It’s business, Sony is doing everything it can to keep games off of the Xbox platform. Phil and Matt should be doing the same. Now if Sony want to play a bit nicer I would be perfectly ok with giving them whatever game they want in return for a Spider-Man, A Horizon, or GOW. that would be a fair trade.

The New Day in Gears 5 is gonna be a GPU perk. I get the boys for free!

Yeah it was all about the visuals. Not a fan of the LEGO-Power Ranger look either, that shit gotta go.

It’s never going to happen but I would love for such a thing to happen in this business. Sony gets Starfield and in return we get to experience the beloved Spider Man game, indeed. A new Doom to Sony? Sure, Xbox would like R&C for example. But yeah, that won’t ever be reality. Sony is playing the game hard, so should MS.

Yeah, exactly. But lighting and shaders can do wonders. The biggest reason for delay was because of the criticism on the visuals, right? I am hopeful they have been making big improvements. It’s so sad to see it going from Halo 4 and 5 to this. 4 especially was a technical achievement in my opinion on Xbox 360. And now in 4K on One X and XSX it’s just amazing how it can still stand on its own.

It will never look like Halo 4 in terms of art style so its best not to have your expectations set to that, they rebooted the entire visual art to what it looked like in Halo 1. Halo 4 was darker, grittier game with much more visual noise, they aren’t going for this look.

After talking with Walmart for 2 weeks, it’s looking like my Xbox may not be coming… BUT, I managed to get one from Best Buy today! Comes Wednesday!

Isn’t that Halo Infinite “shader” video from Colt Eastwood? Colt did something like that after the July showcase.

Star Wars™: Squadrons

With Star Wars™: Squadrons, the team at Motive has created two different options for an improved experience on the Xbox Series X|S which you can choose between: one for better visual quality and another for better performance. If you choose to fly across the galaxy with improved visual quality, the game will have a better lighting model where it will run up to 1440p at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series S and up to 2160p at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X. If you choose performance, the game will run up to 1440p at 120 FPS and up to 2160p at 120 FPS respectively. Motive also added a Variable Refresh Rate on/off option for those of you with a TV that supports the feature. Star Wars: Squadrons on the PlayStation 5 will run with improved lighting, at the same resolution and framerate as on the PlayStation 4 Pro. And, no matter the platform - Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 - you can compete with other pilots through cross-platform play.

That’s true. It’s definitely going for the Halo CE look, but surely the lighting can be improved significantly and the under detailed character models are not a good look either. But not every character model looks bad. It’s mostly the brute at the end talking to Chief. And Craig of course, haha, but I bet that if there had been impressive lighting it would have made all the difference in the world. The most beautiful games like Uncharted 4 can have Drake’s face look bad depending on lighting. Same with Tomb Raider games.
