I see some people still don’t consider the pandemic and how it halted game dev progress anywhere between 1-2 years. Hellblade 2 isn’t taking too long, it’s been especially hit pretty bad by the pandemic due to their focus on mo-cap and photogrammetry.
I’m pretty sure we can expect Hellblade 2 in 2024 bar any concrete indication that it isn’t. There hasn’t been any solid indication that it isn’t releasing next year besides some people going stir crazy on forums due to Xbox not announcing a date yet.
Hopefully a dev direct early 2024 with some proper footage, or June. Then I can still see it being a August or September game, or Holiday.
April
People from PG have said a few times that they are extremely demanding when it comes to who they hire and are only looking for the best
They gotta get the best to hit Fall 2024
Yep the performance coming out of ue5 at the moment isn’t great.
It’s why I expect gear 6 in 2025 +
Didn’t Immortals run okay?
It runs fine at like 720p upscaled lol
Also, we saw The Coalition’s UE5 Tech Test. The footage was running on an Xbox Series X and looked incredible.
In case you guys need a reminder
I guess I meant on consoles.
UE5 seems problematic for many devs but Coalition alongside Epic obviously are one of the only ones id have zero worries about making it work well
Ninja Theory will also have the benefit of creating something very linear and focused, they will likely be able to crank up the graphics to 11 and still have it run decently
Yeah, we don’t need to worry about TC. And honestly with the knowledge and expertise sharing between TC and Rare and TI and UL and NT, I don’t think we need to worry about any of them.
Yeah, on consoles it renders at 720p base (60fps) and uses FSR to upscale to 4k.
I mean as long as it looks good I don’t really care lol
Coalition have to be the one that will come out and say, “Let me show you how it’s done.”
I’m hoping the Developer Direct returns in late January with Towerborne, Avowed, Flight Simulator 2024 and probably Ara or that Mythology game. I can see Hellblade 2 being at The Game Awards but personally, if it was up to me, I would do a gameplay blowout with a lot of combat during the Xbox Games Showcase in June with a November 2024 release date. At most, perhaps a combat teaser during the Direct and the end saying “see you in June”. But we’ll see.
I think (hope) the gameplay blow out of Hellblade 2 happens at the Direct not at E3 2024. That’s too far away and they should be putting the shine on the unannounced 2024 games and 2025 games at that point.
Yeah, speaking of Avowed. That is UE4, isn’t it? We had some people thinking it could be UE5, but I’m kinda hoping it isn’t tbh.
