That’s why it’s taking 7-8 years
I don’t mind a few studios being given this much time to make a moment type of game. We might get to a point they have so many studios that they’ll naturally be given that time.
Minecraft Dungeons support is ending yet Mojang has job posts like this.
*Mojang is looking for a Tech Lead to take on the challenges around implementing features for the universe of Minecraft Dungeons
The team consists of 50+ people, half of which are developers and the rest a mix of; designers, artists, audio designers, QA, build engineers and producers. We all collaborate closely within and across disciplines as well as with our partner studio in the U.K.*
Not jumping to conclusions yet, but I think that a sequel could be in the development, which is cool because Dungeons is an underrated game imo.
Goes to show how much of a bubble we’re in. Nobody in forums like these is talking about Dungeons anymore, yet it hits 25 million players. Absolutely incredible! It’s the same with games like Sea of Thieves and even State of Decay. Nobody here is talking about them, but they’re still going strong with incredibly dedicated communities. Xbox has done amazingly well on the GaaS front. Halo Infinite is making quite the comeback too with some fantastic progress. The recent season is a lot of fun, Husky Raid in particular is super fun.
Infinite, Sea of Thieves, FO76, ESO, SOD, Minecraft, AOE, and MSFS putting in work in the GAAS front.
It’s just that the layoffs news practically took over the news. I mean I saw it and congrats to them.
Add in CoD, WoW, Diablo, etc, etc. If you like multiplayer games, and you don’t have an Xbox or competent PC, what are you doing?

This should have been free or in-subs from day one.

Pretty much why I don’t worry about Halo being in 22nd place. I’ve only ever seen Grounded in 32nd place before it disappeared forever but its 15m+players, pretty sure Dungeons placed similarly.
It’s been a while since I’ve played, but really enjoyed Minecraft Dungeons. Would love to see a sequel if they decided they feel like it. I also play FH5 and Halo Infinite weekly but that’s harder now I don’t want to stop playing Starfield.
Microsoft/Bethesda/ABK(eventually) are going all out on getting that talent. I just hope they managed to get in contact with the Bioware devs that were let go as well.
I brought this up in the graphics thread, and others seem to agree as well, that this game and UE5 likely had a symbiotic relationship where they both grew and evolved together. And so to take advantage of new features that continuously rolled out, the game keep incorporating this new stuff to a degree. They had to have cut off the feature adoption at one point, but saw that waiting would help the game. This is conjecture on my point I have no inside information or evidence. It was pointed out in that thread with that dev started in UE4 before moving to UE5 so you do see the desire for NT to create something using the latest and greatest technology.
So while, yes, it’s a pretty long dev cycle for a team this size… I actually appreciate it because at this point it looks so good to the point where people doubt that it’s real time.
I’m excited at the prospect of Undead Labs having an equally good looking game because they can lean on the shoulders of Ninja Theory and The Coalition. Oh, and The Initiative with Perfect Dark.
I can see hellblade slipping to 2025 depending on the unreal engine upgrades.
I’ve heard UE5 games aren’t in great shape right now……so I’d not be at all surprised……I’d go as far as saying I’d be surprised if HB2 was out next year.
