I can see Hellblade 2 being at the Direct if it releases with the first half of 2024 and if anything, any unannounced 2024 release games should be at the Direct. I agree with the 2025 part but the show would be at least 90 minutes so they’ll have plenty of time.
CryOn says it’s UE 5.
Hmmm, I see. Well then I hope they don’t stumble upon too many issues.
Tekken 8 (beta) and Fortnite use UE5 and run great fwiw.
I have no idea how this narrative thing works. First UE5 was the best thing since sliced bread and even Halo should switch ASAP. And now its problematic.
This is giving me a headache.
Actually, where did the “go wrong” start from?
Lots of hype and PR from Epic and developers got people too excited, first few full AAA games shipped were technically underwhelming.
That was when it could only run on a PS5… Odd coincidence?
But it doesn’t….
I’d argue that not a single AAA has shipped with it tbh
I see where you’re coming from
WHAT IS THIS
I think someone posted about it not too long ago, I think it’s still in early access. I do wonder if that’s why it launched quietly? Maybe they had people that they sent invites to?
Great, can’t wait to hear how their mobile game design is outdated now too because it has to load for a few seconds
Turns out gamers know jack shit and just go off what they think is good or what someone they watch on YouTube says, who woulda thought.
It was hilarious watching people who don’t develop games saying why isn’t nearly every game being made in UE5. I just think that there elements of UE5 that are very demanding(lumen & nanite) on the hardware while being in an environment where game makers are loathe to cap the frame rate to 30fps due to the bad press. You’re right that epic massively hyped up the engine and that got a lot of gamers and press super excited but none of them are having to make games in the engine
Everything I’ve seen of Immortals looks good but whatever
Xbox posted a job opening for Thermal Engineer.
I remember that Series X/S development began in 2016, so if next-gen would launch in 2028, then this could mean that they’re now beginning the development for the next-gen Xbox.
Kinda off topic for studios but I’d assume that they always have something going so that they know what they can hit, and so that they keep knowledgeable people. It’s not unreasonable to think that they’re looking at next gen devices and how they can handle packaging it up and cooling it and stuff though. This team would also be looking at any mid gen changes like the rounded Series X update that was leaked or handhelds or streaming boxes or whatever else they would prototype as future concepts.
