Xbox Game Studios |OT12| The One with Starfield and Activision Blizzard King

Its certainly not bad. He does a podcast with Modern Vintage Gamer. MVG heard the banjo stuff at GDC last year as well.

They could put out banjo and honestly, very few will care. The people that complain will move on to the next thing and then complain there’s no sequel. It’s a no win situation. Best case is it a filler gamepass game, the genera is just dead

The whole notion of “Why make this game when very few will care,” is among the reason why PS don’t create titles like those.

I do think they should make it, especially when diverse content is needed for GP but I’m not under any illusions that it would be some major hit

Pretty much. Theres an obvious reason why its coming later rather than sooner. Its to give Starfield its room before dropping another BGS like RPG.

The Avowed delay thing started because Jez speculated that they think it’s the most likely game to be delayed and that got taken out of context.

From what I can find, It started on Era, then Klobrille predicted it (personally), and Boomstick supposedly said something to the effect, which spurred someone to ask Jez who said what you mentioned.

It’s just another example of how nonsense (especially negative) spreads throughout the community.

I can’t help but agree. I feel like while there is definitely an audience for this kind of nostalgia play, I wonder how large that audience really is. Also isn’t most of that audience outside the Xbox eco system? More specifically, I suspecy most of them are Switch gamers.

On that note, I wonder if maybe Banjo could/should come to the Switch à la the Ori games.

I’m usually not one to advocate for in-house games to go multiplatform, but I think maybe this is one instance where it makes sense. If doing that could ensure healthy enough player engagement to warrant a sequel, then that seems like the way to go.

The argument against it would obviously be if the release of a new Banjo game would be enough to drive non-Xbox consumers into the Xbox eco system. I don’t think it would be, but I’m also not the target audience so I could well be wrong.

If it’s a remake they just need to make the art style make sense, none of that weird blocky N&B stuff. Basically go the Spyro remake route and/or Crash trilogy remakes. Those look awesome. Remake is the safest route too.

The most likely to be delayed of all confirmed 2024 first party titles? Yeah, I can see that, but hopefully it does make it. If there’s a dev direct early 2024 and it’s part of it, great, good sign. If it’s not, that be a bummer. But I’m sure during their summer show we’ll learn where they are with it in terms of development. So far Obsidian has been consistent with their dates, I think?

I wouldn’t say the genre is dead because Mario wouldn’t do well if it was.

Am I saying Banjoo Kazooie will sell as well as Mario, no it won’t, but it can still be successful.

Banjo just needs the Crash and Spyro treatment. Literally nothing complicated.

Would a remake be enough though? I mean, while technically not a remake, we did get both Kazooie and Tooie on Xbox 360, now playable in 4K HDR on Series X.

I think people would welcome a remake as long as there is more to it, as in, here’s a Spyro Trilogy quality remake to keep you busy as we work on Banjo-Threeie! I just think that by now people expect a new game more than just a remaster.

I’d love a brand new one, but it has to be by folks who “get” BK. It needs to have the charming characters and music. But hey, I guess if Insomniac can with Rift Apart, why can’t it be done for BK, right? But I can see them taking the safe route first.

The big thing a new BK needs is this as well as two important things that i think need to be fixed from B-T… worlds that dont feel empty and feel good to traverse. Movement is key.

The weakness in xbox community is that they forget what Phil has mentioned many times.

The game will be made by Studio who truly wants to make one. Rare definitely has no intrest in making Banzo anymore. There might be some at rare who wants to make one. But will a small team be enough to justify the game’s development?

I trust in Xbox and I am sure they are looking for a studio to make this game. But remember, Phil will never ask to make a game if the studio doesn’t want to make one.

Stay calm and keep your hopes up that a studio shows enough intrest with a great pitch to make this game for you.

If the Banjo game is real, I think it’s a mistake. That era has come and gone. Nostalgia won’t be enough to make old classics like Banjo an actual thing. The idea of bringing Banjo back is honestly more enticing than an actual Banjo game but, we know gamers have been clamoring for it. Just not enough to warrant it. Guess we’ll see.

It would be more content for GP at least which is never a bad thing

I do think if it comes back it will need evolving

Serious evolving. If they try to keep the same formula, it’ll be a waste. Keep some old, a lot of the new!
